skyway just inhabits a little super-logic fantasy world of his own, where the EE is a paid patch because of non sequitur non sequitur Witcher not being a very good game and this somehow being relevant non sequitur.

In my little super-logic fantasy world you don't hype and sell game with several bug-fixes like it is a second coming. Because let's be honest - 1.4 patch added nothing new except graphical updates (and sound updates for some versions). The main part of the game - gameplay - still remained a boring twitch fest with lots of mmorpg quests.
If CDP thinks that in order to reach perfection you just need to update graphix... well..

Nobody is arguing about how good the game is. Whether it's good or not has no bearing on whether the EE is a "paid patch" or not, because the patch is free to those who have already paid. Yes, I do think we could have done without the hype, but that doesn't change that at all.
And I find the presumably intentional pretentiousness quite amusing, to be honest.

Define free, because downloading the ee takes up one 8th of my bandwidth per month which costs me 50 dollars, that looks to me like it costs me $6.25 so fuck your free off it did not in any way deserve to be appreciated the way it was it is a patch don't make a big fuss about it just because you've released no other product. I played and bought the witcher without the patch though anyway and enjoyed it despite the shitty dialogues and characterisation. (maybe that was just the bad translation who knows.)

By your dumb logic every patch costs something.

Fallout 1 sucks because it employs a pay-to-play model for single-player gameplay - someone has to pay those electricity bills, after all. No true gamer should stand for such bullshit.

Turns out it's the console Witcher indeed. It was a pretty stupid move trying to link this with GOG, if you ask me.

http://become.thewitcher.com/

Also, this:
“Console gamers don’t want to be treated like kids; they’re ready for deep story-driven games, and we think we’re delivering one of the deepest console RPGs ever with The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf,” said Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt RED. “The only thing we’re taking directly from The Witcher is the story; everything else is being created from scratch or significantly reworked to get us to our end goal of delivering the ultimate console RPG.”
It would certainly be interesting if, for a change, someone made a console game for semi-intelligent people.

2 other projects are yet to be unveiled.

Okay, for one thing, stop masturbating so much to your own game, Adam. It's a bit embarassing. Second...they're changing the game that much? Interesting.

That's disappointing. The fact that they went through the trouble of making another cinematic troubles me. Yeah, it looks nice (albeit slightly weird: Geralt looks... odd), but when I saw glimpses of this same cinematic earlier in another trailer, I was hoping they indicated new content, ala xpack/sequel for the PC. Oh well.

I too hoped for a sequel/expansion, especially when they started "you'll never guess what it is!" game.

So, is there a new PC Witcher game in the works or are they busy patching and porting?

Well, they insist:

“We’re not about to dumb down our games for anyone. We want to give players the best games, regardless of platform,” added Michal Kicinski, co-founder of CD Projekt. “It’s important to us that each game plays to the platform’s strengths while treating our players with respect. That was our development philosophy with The Witcher and it’s our philosophy on all three of the games in development at CD Projekt RED, including Rise of the White Wolf. Anyone concerned that we’re going to somehow offer a shallow RPG or abandon the PC platform simply because we’re working on consoles can stop worrying.

Vague PR waffling, but it'd seem logical for them to continue with the Witcher IP.

There's apparently a new engine. If that means their version of Aurora has been modded even further to do dynamic lights and shadows and other shit, or if it's something completely new, I'm not sure anyone knows yet.

They're on the right track for consoles inasmuch as they are re-doing the combat and making it a twitchfest-- no more one click to chain attacks, I assume.

It's not vague at all.

Whether it actually turns out to be true is the issue. What they become could have no relation to what they claim or want. They've stepped in the puddle; let's see if their shoe gets dirty.

I have to say that I though that TWs combat wasn't that great to begin with. Sure, you had to time your clicks but it was still fairly uninspired, and I can hardly see it being much worse on the consoles.

The question is will they keep stuff like the terrific second act and the delayed consequences in?

Most probably, because that is what gives them the edge over other studios that do generic stuff.

And if they dont there will be a lot of negative feelings about that.
Lets hope so, anyway.

I'd rather have a twitch-fest than TW's awful "click at the right moment. repeat x1000000" combat.

When you actually think about it, a "twitch fest" is exactly that.

It's a completely new engine. They're not so much porting the original game, but remaking the same story in another engine, with different gameplay mechanics. The engine was made by Widescreen Games, a French company.

I too hoped for a sequel/expansion, especially when they started "you'll never guess what it is!" game.

They're working on 2 unannounced projects as well, and I'm pretty sure that one of them is The Witcher 2. I wouldn't be surprised if it were multiplatfrom from the get go.

By twitch-fest I meant something that requires at least a little skill, like Diablo or Oblivion. Hell, even World of Warcraft requires more skill than TW.

I wasn't being totally negative about twitchfest for Witcher-- I'd love to play a fully dynamic version of its combat system, and they are clearly doing the right thing by making one for consoles.
