I'm a poor reader, so was he saying that after he left, someone finally told him that EA/Disney had banned all contracts with the likes of Obsidian?
Seems so. Obsidian didn’t know it couldn’t do.
Share the link at least man.MCA Interview in the newest Game Informer. I think it was the first time he talked about his departure sort of directly. Is it against the rules to share the text and/or link?

It's not a very revealing answer (at least in regard to internal Obsidian stuff) but here's an excerpt (that's fair game, right?)
I'm not sure I agree with you here, doesn't that sentence implies that Obsidian pitched KOTOR 3 without realizing that it was a waste of time because they weren't aware of things like the exclusive deal with EA?They obviously knew about the exclusivity deal, they're not as stupid as you, I'm sure, he's just saying they wasted their time.
Can you imagine a game led by him and where he is given total creative control but has the budget of DAI? Damn, that would probably be best game ever!I wouldn't necessarily read that sentence as MCA saying that Obsidian wasted their time pitching games they couldn't make. He might just have said that to emphasize that his options were limited at Obsidian, even more limited than he knew at first. So if he ever wants to work on a new KOTOR game, he has to leave Obsidian. (in before MCA joins Bioware, mass suicide)
For example, Beamdog's Siege of Dragonspear reminded me what the touchstones of fun companions should be (and what it takes to create a great adversary, not just a villain).
Captain Schael Corwin
A deadshot archer who serves the Flaming Fist, Captain Corwin is ready to take the fight to the Shining Lady to protect the city she loves.
Voghiln the Vast
A skald from the north who inspires his allies with epic tales--as long as the ale keeps flowing.
M’Khiin Grubdoubler
A goblin on her own, determined not to return to her tribe. Her unusual shamanic magic may turn the tide of battle.
Glint Gardnersonson
The blessings of Baravar Cloakshadow follow this irrepressible gnome, who uses his clerical abilities to support his more subtle talents.
Yes, he shares the same opinion like the Codex.Seems like he thinks PoE's companions and villain are not fun. Or great.
Dat face...
No instead we get something unique like "A goblin on her own".
