Why would you turn off images?

It's like why late 80s - early 90 RPGs are better than modern crap - less glamour, more substance.

People have complained about large image widths ruining the size of pages so I've been playing with solutions (and it's been something that's annoyed me a few times with some overly large ones).

That's perfectly understandable, of course. The popping up image obscuring image placeholder is what I primarily complained about.

That's actually pretty funny.

Umm, not quite

Work on the code so that instead of having to hover / click on the image to re-size, another link appears below which triggers the shrink / re-size. Hopefully that means people without images will still be able to right-click the image and view it, while those with images can simply click the link below it.

That sounds better. Or, just make spinner 1x1 pixel or something (then again, without images it still would be a full placeholder size probably).

I think the best solution would be to only shrink images that are larger than a certain size. Let's say 800x800 or something like that.
