So Co8 5.7 is out. Anyone tried it out yet? A few fixes to the more annoying problems in the previous release. AoD combat is burning me out and frustrating me, so I think a change of scenery is in order.

A good place to own a gun.
I played the living shit out of that AoD demo too. It's the fact that it's KB-smashing hard in spots that kept me hooked, simplistic though it may be. I'm due for a TOEE fix myself.

Edit: Why the fuck did they remove the BG portraits with 5.7.1? Someone complained about more portraits?

Are they still adding random arbitrary shit?

Oh and BTW, is there a widescreen patch for ToEE?

Apparently they don't like custom portraits for PCs that much. I caught a thread once making fun of us for asking how to add custom ones. O well, whatever.

Did they actually fix the main quests in the temple at all? I got to that point and stopped playing due to the suckitude of quest threads being all messed up 'n shit.

Also, is looting any better yet?

Wake me up when all the suck has been removed. :smug:

I was reading some guy's 5.6.1 playthrough thread and it veered off topic into nothing but a discussion of all the weird bugs that had been added by the CO8 patch.

5.7.1 is supposed to be more vanilla, does anyone know if it's at a point where it doesn't add in too many new bugs or too much irritating/unprofessional new content like npcs who are voiced by random internet guys?

I don't think it adds anything. Some stuff from the original game was changed in the 5.6.x because they decided it was better (or easier) to change the content rather than fix bugs in it. In this release they seemed to have reverted those changes and actually fix the things that were wrong. 5.6.1 was playable beginning to end with a few bugs from new content (but none of it really killed the game). Have yet to try the new release, but going from the change log they obviously did some fixing this time, to both the original content and their own.
