I wish they had implemented a storyline like storymod.

I used to think the same, but now I would say doing that would go against the grain of the game. They really should have implemented an in-depth setting and a main quest in the vein of Darklands though, that would have made the game a masterpiece. As it is the game is more of a simulator than an rpg. I think the developers took the wrong turn since version .751 by focusing on graphics and modder demands, and ignoring the need for more roleplaying and an actual setting instead of the empty and contentless fantasyland they ended up with.

"More" roleplaying? How is there _any_ roleplaying at the moment?

Well, you do create a character, develop him through skills and attributes, make him join factions and build a party/army...

It's really not much, but it's more than certain "role playing games" like Diablo or Final Fantasy have.

Yes the running thing is a major flaw, on the world map as well as in battles. Everybody has a constant speed so you can either outrun them all the time or you'll never be able to. Introducing some kind of speed variation (random changes limited to say - to + 10% of default) would make an instant difference there. Another very easy thing to combine with it would be fatigue (for both horses and men) which would gradually lower your movement speed as well as combat abilities (swing speed/damage, aiming).
Yep. That would be awesome.

Also, as far as trading is concerned, being able to equip your troops (not just heroes) would mean you would make more use of it. I.e. it would provide an incentive to visit all the shops looking for better (and compatible, skill-wise) gear.

Neither of these things would make the game great by themselves.

You dumbass, roleplaying is riding around on a horse and killing things.

Good review, quite critical.

I just looked Mount My Blade as an amazing waste of time that is fun but really doesn't go anywhere.

Did you make a video of it?

Never tried higher battle size than about 100 (gives me about 10-15 fps), because I'm afraid of my graphics card blowing up.
