Why is the text so tiny?

CTRL + MouseWheel

I'm fully aware, but that doesn't explain why the default is so damn tiny.

Please do come back and let us know how you liked devil whiskey (stupid emo name! :( )

I played the demo years ago,and found it unstable crap (good music though).

I purchased the boxed set of Devil Whisky around 2 years ago. After spending time with the game I was rather disapointed, it had much potential though. It may have been more stable than the demo, but it still has troubles, the worst for me being corrupted save games. Twice I had to start new because of this. Also, there are some real balance issues for the classes. The length of the game stunts developement for some your characters, they will need far more experience to reach their full potential.

It is indeed in the Bard's Tale tradition. It has new races and classes, with some parts modernized but much of it retaining some very archaic elements, such as the interface. The combat is just like the old Bard's Tale games.

However, I haven't played Devil Whiskey and long time, Shifting Suns may have done a lot of work on it since then. There also may be some good user created mods to fix it.

A good review of the game, for the time that it was written...

I gave up on Devil Whiskey, "old skool" is well and good but no automap + no paning makes navigation a headache...

I believe there is an auto map in Devil Whiskey, although I hear it's rather rudimentary. Im waiting for my copy of the game to arrive in the mail and once I get some use with it I will post some impressions.

It might be a while though as I am playing Bard's Tale I right now. It's funny, making your own maps is a bit tedious but I am actually enjoying it now that I have some practice with it, the game is still big fun.
