Why rationalise scripts and stories that are obviously
allegoric? Causes are irrelevant. Their effect on the fragile human social structure is where the meat's at.

In any event, Romero confirmed the 'bacteria slows the onset, but doesn't cure it' theory when fansites asked him about the zombification of a character in Dawn, which seems to take many days, or possibly even many weeks, while taking antibiotics.
You mean anti-biotics. If bacteria slowed the zombiefication talking anti-biotics would be very counter-productive.

I'd like to see a theory where everybody was infected through bacteria in the watersupply. Thus corrupting our precious bodily fluids. And whoever dies then rises as a <s>communist</s>zombie.

Shotgun shells don't grow on trees, and despite what yr typical Eurotrashistan media would have you believe, America doesn't have a gun shop on every street corner.
Eh, but it does seem to have a liquor store on every street corner, and I bet there is some ammo to be found unless the owner used it all. So there.

Which sounds like something I would do, given the whole zombie apocalypse shit going on outside. I'm more inclined towards scavenging what little is left than supplies being everywhere since everyone is dead. There must be / must have been other survivors besides you thinking the same ideas.

Since it's open ended I'm curious what the overall plot will be. Just surviving? What will the endgame be?

Actually, this has been done in several books and short stories that I've read, and Romero used residual background radiation/air-borne pathogens to the same extent in Land of the Dead.

This is all sounding really interesting. A good, modern, survival based RPG would be a huge boon to the genre, I think. And I think it'll be kind of neat to see what Brian and Annie do on their own with an indie-level budget.

Yeah, but that implies a completely different, and much more realistic scavenging model.

Which would be great.

I know a couple of small business owners who keep guns on the premises --- and said firearms go home with them at night. Also, no extra ammo kept on site either.
