The grease/fire and fire/blizzard examples were already shown in the E3 preview. Hopefully there's more where those came from, not just two "gimmicks."

After seeing the 20 minute gameplay demo mentioned in this artcle I am cautiously getting a little more optimistic about DA.

I am not that big on the LOTOR-clone look of the initial cutscenes but the gameplay itself looks decent.

The 'enslave entire nations with necromany' part was taken out of Dragon Age (back when it was only DA; not Origins) a long time ago.

I'm actually beginning to looking forward to this game. It seems it has the feel, the look and the gameplay of the Baldur's Gate games; it features a great story, too, it seems...

It is, of course, interesting that Bioware are trying to make game that looks like a blend or mix between The Witcher and Drakensang while Bethesda is trying to make a Bioware game, it seems, at least when it comes to the dialogue options in the Fallout 3 game.

I just saw this video of the cutscene from the first trailer and I must say that the dialogue sounds good and there's really a sense of character to the actors. And that prince or whatever looks a bit over his head and too anoying for my taste, but I guess it's intentional

Pray tell, where did you see it? All I found so far are the trailers, some interviews and a few short snips of gameplay.

game sounds great so far.

most of my hopes are in the toolset though. hopefully that one will pick up NWN1 s legacy in terms of custom content, given NWN2 failed pretty hard in that regard.

In the DA toolset you'll only be able to mod preset areas. So if that's your cup of tea..

The NWN2 toolset failed exactly how?

He told you how. It failed to live up to NWN1's legacy in terms of custom content. Game over.

NWN1 = 1000s of new content of which 70% was shit, 25% mediocre but aside from that there was some real gems in between that were more fun than plenty of games you actually have to pay for.

NWN2 = 100s of new content of which 60% is shit, 40% mediocre and no real gem yet.
and all the promising projects either are or at least seem pretty dead to me (black hound, purgatorio etc. )

its been 2 years now, time to get desillusioned ( i used to defend NWN2 toolset too, hoping we d get less quantity but more quality - so far i only seen less quanitity but no signs of quality..... )

Oh really? I don't think so, petty princess. The quality of NWN2 custom content cannot be compared with the squares and boxes of NWN1 - everyone can produce squares and boxes and call it custom content.

As for NWN2 custom content;
http://www.robinsonworkshop.com/phpBB2/index.php

This is just a segment.

You have to load the game Volourn, you have been defeated.

And gee, when we're talking about the custom content in relation to the toolset, you realise we're not talking about modules.
Just in case; everyone can build an area in NWN1, even a retard like you Volourn. To build an area in NWN2 you need much more time and skill - and when you do it good it looks 1000x better than anything that's possible in NWN1.

Bottom line is NWN2 failed in terms of custom content. Period.

Outside of Obsidian's expansions, NWN2 is nothing. It was dead in the water.

People actually believed that eveyrone would dump NWN1 and only deal with NWN2. WRONG.

And, why is it that? Because, despite NWN2's improved graphics, it failed to live up to NWN1's legacy in terms of custom content. Sequels are supposed to improve all aspects of a product. NWN2 did that with graphics, and one can argue about the OCs to their blue in the face; but in terms of custom content, NWN2 just doens't live up to NWN1's legacy. Period.

This is a fact.

Yeah and Crysis custom content pisses on both. whats your point ? i wasnt talking about graphics but gameplay.

NWN1: 7 outta 10 modules are utter shit and not even worth the download. 2 outta 10 modules are enjoyable for a free mod but nothing great. 1 outta 10 is a pretty decent game on par with stuff you d normally have to pay for

NWN2: 6 outta 10 modules are utter shit and not even worth the download. 4 outta 10 modules are enjoyable for a free mod but nothing great. not a single NWN2 module is actually really good though.

so NWN1s "legacy" to me was that there were roughly 5-15 modules that were really good fun and worth buying, 50-100 modules that were at least not a waste of the download/time and 1000s of mindless shit you had to avoid like hell.

NWN2 so far has 5-10 modules worth the download but nothing great either.

thats pretty disappointing though i dunno whether you can blame that on OE or simply NWN2 having bad luck / not attracting serious modders.

Jesus, stop mixing custom content and modules/pws. Yes, NWN1 has loads of modules because to build them you don't require more than 2 brain cells. 1 for the talent and the other for motoric functions.

You can build an area in NWN1 in like half an hour. TILESET-PUZZLES BABY. That's why areas in NWN1 look so varied.

You're mixing things again, petty princess. You're the one who was raped - Bethesda and I decided to rape you with the handle of a machine guin. Did you enjoy it?

Maybe we should look at how NWN2 toolset could perform...

Like with Purgatorio?
