Not sure how you guys do it in the states, but in Australia approx 1/3 of gay guys don't do anal. In my experience that number is considerably higher out of younger (18-27) guys and lower for older guys. A lot of younger folk don't do anal in casual sex due to the STD risk and, well, effort involved. It's entirely plausible you might get a gay guy who just doesn't like anal. Heck, there's plenty of straight folk who are fricken obsessed about hetero anal, so its hard to put 'gay=anal, straight=everything-else'.
