so if no one else asking most important question i will. what about monks?
Well, archer has kicks and a flying kick move. It'd take you forever to kill anything worth fighting, but it's there.
It's mostly just there to make you look cool. I have found it useful as an evasion tactic though. If something is charging you and getting too close for comfort the jump kick is a good way to put some distance between yourself and the enemy.

Slowly inching towards 40 hours of played and only now do I feel like I want to start moving past the checkpoint town on the border. Much like the original game a majority of my playtime have been spent on free-form roaming with no clear objective outside of occasionally revisiting old areas I haven't visited in some time. I've been doing some sort of mercenary work by browsing pawns in the rift and picking the ones where the owner has placed a large sum of money as a reward for killing a specific monster (usually an ogre or a cyclops) for the pawn badges. The downside to doing this is that I feel overlevelled as fuck and all the minibosses I run into fall pretty easily, even if I bring low level pawns with me. I really hope they'll eventually add some sort of BBI equivalent later on where the enemies are much stronger.

Speaking of which, do we know what the max level in this game is? Is it 200 like in the first game?

Alright so according to Fextralife (and thus not a very reliable source) the Rank 9 Mage Augment Exaltation adds..... +10% Stamina recharge speed.

The ingame tooltip doesn't list the exact amount (and I can't be bothered to test it myself) but for what it's worth I can confirm that it at least does increase stamina recharge.

So I'm walking from the border crossing to Battahl. It's a long trek, I already fought a griffin and an ogre of a hairy variety on the way and my pawn is starting to act strange - she's really aggressive, runs after monsters, jumps from silly heights breaking her ankles, I think she might have stolen some items. Night falls, and there's just an unending number of bandits, goblins and undead chipping away at the party. We come to a bend in a road and there's two cyclopes there that are either fighting or fucking, can't really tell in the dark. I try to run past them, being at 30% hp, but my damn pawn goes full aggro on them with her red HP bar, and instantly gets clobbered. I spend the next five minutes trying to revive her and the other pawns that are being trampled by the cyclopes, while fighting off the nasty variety of goblins, and then I get fucking kidnapped by a pack of wolves to be raised as their own. Wait, no, they're just eating me. I break free, put on some Doom music, kill the wolves, kill the goblins, kill the random bandit, revive my pawn on the last red tick which also revives the other pawns as they were laying in a convienent heap and then I run like a little bitch snarfing Stamina potions like a day trader snarfs cocaine.

I get to town, and promptly lose a fight to some cat monkeys.

Good times.

The dragonplague pawn sickness actually has some severe consequences if left unattended. Not sure if it was discussed here or not but:
If a pawn is sick they will show signs like having red eyes, new moves, will say they have a headache if idle, won't listen to commands. After an unknown amount of time, if you rest, they will slaughter every NPC in the area, including a major city. To cure it you need to brine/kill your main pawn or just release the other ones back into the rift.

I would be very grateful if you could just quickly do a rough timed test to see how quick your stamina recharges with it off vs on, just roughly how many seconds would do fine, no need to break out the stopwatch or anything

Unfortunately it's my pawn that's a rank 9 mage and not my arisen, so I don't think it's even possible for me to try it out. I am absolutely not levelling 9 ranks of mage myself because that sounds dreadfully boring

I started over as a Thief.

Has anyone tried "Warfarer" yet? How does it play? Thinking of going back and forth between archer/thief on this playthrough and eventually going warfarer to be able to switch back and forth between bow and daggers. Not having ranged attacks as a fighter got really annoying real quick, specially against flying enemies.

People don't seem to be thrilled with it. It has lower stats than the other vocations and being able to use only 3 weapon skills is too limiting. Why bother with being a jack of all trades and master of none when the likes of Thief and Magick Archer can already do well in practically any situation and you have pawns to make up for your weaknesses, anyway? They should have let Warfarers have separate skill sets of 3 skills for each weapon they use instead of 3 in total. The lower stats and inability to use Maister's Teachings would be enough to make it not too overpowered.

I started over
Not allowed! You will play your first character until you finish the game and you will like it! Starting a game over is dumbed-down decline for mouth breathers!

*whips Barbarian for playing DD2 wrong*
Aren't you still playing Elden Ring on your PS4? What be your purpose here?
Yes I am, and it has still never stuttered a single time, ever.

My porpoise here is ascertaining what kind of game DD2 is, before I spend my precious goymoney on it and the requisite PS5.

I'm actually surprised by how few slider abominations and joke pawns I've seen so far. From all the different characters I saw people create in the demo I was fully prepared for both the rift and the roaming overworld pawns to be filled with meme shit.
