Meh. Looks more and more like a Baldurs Gate clone with a bit more roleplaying and CnC (if were lucky) to me.

The missing day/night cycle is a good indicator of what to expect.
They are going away from the "simulationany" RoA trilogy where the gameworld and (challenging )gameplay didn't exist exclusivly just for providing a cinematic(tm) story. Instead they are using the usual bioware approach of linear, scripted "dramatic storytelling."

Art direction looks fucking horrible.

So is this just a spiritual succesor to the ROA games? It looks like its only related by being in the same gameworld (Dark eye).

Are any of the Dev's from the ROA games working on this one? I was all excited until I saw real time combat.

Just started playing ROA II recently and it was tough in the beginning but once you get a ways into it, its well worth it.

They just dont make games with this kind of depth anymore sadly....

I can't say I'd mind too much of the combat system was really good...but since that seems pretty unlikely I suspect this will be another RPG from the east I won't bother with.

It's not a spiritual successor. Spiritual successor would indicate having the same design philosophy as the RoA games. This explicitly does not, it's just based on the same PnP system and world.

Yes, it does not look particularly interesting, but some of the guys working on it strike me as pretty smart, and I do so love the DSA PnP system (the setting is expansive, but fairly standard and unoriginal).
