Update #5: The voice of April Ryan returns!
We're very, very happy to announce that the lovely Sarah Hamilton, voice of April Ryan in both The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, is returning for the latest game in our epic saga, Dreamfall Chapters!

"I'm so looking forward to being part of the longest journey family again in whatever capacity it may take!" says Sarah.
And we're looking forward to working with you again, Sarah! It wouldn't be the same without you!

Sarah added humanity and depth to the role of April Ryan, making her one of the most beloved and memorable characters in gaming history. Her involvement helped The Longest Journey resonate with players of all ages, as they followed April Ryan's journey from art student to saviour of the universe.

Sarah Hamilton's role in Dreamfall Chapters has yet to be revealed, but we're sure fans of April Ryan will start speculating right about...NOW.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Yes, we can see it.

755,400 $

Seeing how much cash did they have now, it will probably have 1 million dollars without any problems. Interesting news about not beeing episodic.

I don't get where the money is coming from, all the other adventure kickstarters have struggled and Dreamfall must have alienated a lot of fans of the first game.... Is it all MMO and David Cage fans? :?

DFA, Homestuck, and Broken Sword disagree.

Jane Jensen's studio and Tex Murphy did pretty well too.

On October 1, 2009, Funcom's Director of Communications Erling Ellingsen stated in an interview that the development of Dreamfall Chapters had been put on an "indefinite hold".

Not to mention how offensive it is that Funcom stopped making adventure games and only when they made two consecutive failed MMOs they decided that they need to return to their roots...using their fans' money. After being so bold in 2009, saying that dreamfall chapters is put on an "indefinite hold", they are shamelessly asking for money, offering shitty screenshots and making fans pay 25$ for the same perks as 20$ because they are not among the first 5000? I find this humiliating.

But you accept the love you think you deserve, I guess.

That has actually become a standard KS practice. I don't remember who started it, but I think I first saw it during the P:E campaign.

Drewamfall is the exact opposite of MMO. It also isn't a QTE shitfest like David Cage's games. Have you even played Dreamfall?
:hmmm:

Funcom isn't making this:
Red Thread Games is an independent developer. We have licensed the rights to The Longest Journey and Dreamfall universe from Funcom, but we are not receiving any investment from Funcom or any other publisher.

Totally looks like Oblivion ffs.
Oblivion had a lot of potential, but they wasted the oppurtunity by making everything look samey. That it looks like oblivion is not a bad thing in itself.

Also, honestly, moar like far-cry than oblivion.

I don't think you understand how big name Ragnar Tornquist and The Longest Journey are among adventure gamers.

and Dreamfall must have alienated a lot of fans of the first game...
People didn't like some aspects of Dreamfall, but it is still regarded a fairly good adventure game with a great story. Outside of the Codex of course.

Not sure if wandering in a big 3D world for a P&C adventure game is a good thing.
I always though a more compact world suits better those kind of games.

So, those yet unrevealed stretch goals between 1M and 2M must be just some cosmetic stuff, right? I don't see how they could afford to produce 2 games otherwise (ignoring the fact that doing the campaign this way is completely fucktarded).
