BTW, I tried sword + dodge and dagger + dodge before. I even place them in second and third spots on my list, but they feel too risky on construct fights + you must go with 4 INT, which add even more risks along the way.
Do you play Ironman? Because I see you left with 3 hp only. That exact risks that I'm talked about before. If you have enough liquid fires, then you can kill 3-4 of them in the second turn.BTW, I tried sword + dodge and dagger + dodge before. I soften up the first two Melee Constructs with the Dagger until the two Ranged get within striking distance. Melee fighters go down to the knife and then I engaged with the closest Ranged Construct. They pelt me with arrows but my armor absorbs most of it. First Ranged Construct is nearly dead and disengages, ends up beside the second. I pelt them with four or five Strong Liquid Fire Vials and they both die. Second one tries running like a bitch but I ain't havin' it. Didn't even use a Bomb/Fire on the Constructs before these four.
Same as my spear run. For sword+shield I use neuro to close in with archer and kill him, then get netted and run from enemies, while I'm steel debuffed. 7 STR + 10 CON + 10 crafting Heavy scorp armor + infantry shield + 6 DR helmet + kopes + 10 block + 10 sword + 9 alchemy = death. Enemies ignore my shield or my armor every time. I hate block for that reason. You just dont feel this extra DR from shield or armor. I guess I was unlucky. I wonder how you suvived with 4 STR + 10 CON...I took the forge. I had to use 9 points in alchemy (neurostimulant, poison) to win the first fight. To beat the second fight, I draw Scaurus from the rest and block them with liquid fire. Kill him, then did the same thing with the two guards. The remaining bowman I killed with aimed attacks at the head. I was using gladius/murmillo helmet/heavy scorpion armor/ infantry shield (10 crafting).
Will someone remind me which 1h sword(s) can attack diagonally?

First impression, this game is hard, quite a bit harder than AoD actually.

I killed the net guy first. He has shit armor and for some strange reason he didn't use the net this time. I think it was the amount of damage or the way I pressured him. Then I killed the two guards and only them I killed the archer. The real problem is not block, but bad positioning, nets and bombs. Bad positioning you can fix by yourself, but nets and bombs are crazy. The best helmet with 10 crafting is murmillo. It gives you 7 DR and no penalty.

You are confusing it with hasta, which is a spear.
No problem, I did think it strange the description didn't make mention of it tho. Will someone remind me which 1h sword(s) can attack diagonally?

You are right. Sorry, agris. Trying too many builds is blurring the distinctions in my mind.

Check new Realms of Arkania: Star Trail. It early access nw, but have very promising gameplay and combat. I hope they make it deep and tactical enough for wargamers like me.Finished G3 a few weeks ago and Tyranny yesterday, this is next on the list. Bought and downloading now, have a feeling the combat will be the best of the three.
Aimed legs is only for enemies that use dodge.
We are doing an alchemy balance pass for the next version, along with other balance changes. We'll do some more extensive changes for update 3, along with new additions. We are also adding ally/enemy markers, and improved visuals for creature armors and bomb explosions.
Then the bigger nonsense is that you can kill 'em all!He is disposable, but he wouldn’t be crazy to take your side over his former boss with a bigger team
