I don't think so, since various US states and various countries would presumably require various taxes, while the price, as far as I know, displays as the same for everyone. Perhaps the difference is that when I buy from SS I always take the "physical" CD, too... maybe the VAT is exclusively for purely downloadable stuff (Steam does that, too, and I just remembered that I also had to pay it for Machinarium).

edit: I'm a few hours in and I'm hooked. Playing the "hardcore" rules. Quite a fun, unforgiving game.
