All this talking about Spore made me hungry for some evolution games, are there any good ones? If I'm not mistaken Spore had a predecessor.

It has stats and choices/consequences so it's an RPG.

I also found this title, if I remember correctly I pleyed the demo a long time ago.

E.V.O. was awesome. Unfortunately, if you wanted to be successful, you basically wound up taking the same parts every time. But the amount that the upgrades affected you and the realistic advancement made it superior to Spore in many ways.

We need some truly hardcore evolution sim, too bad it wouldn't be very interactive.

Unless you you got to mess around and alter the environment and such. Not much of a game, rather a sandbox, but might still be interesting.

E.V.O. would be a lot more awesome if it wasn't 90% grind.
