Is Fable 2 really a PC-marketable game? Its appeal was as an unashamadely console-style action-adventure with some RPG elements, that didn't pretend (ala FO3) to be a hardcore, or even a medium-core, rpg. I just can't see that being a big selling point to even the current dumbed-down PC market.

I suppose those who don't follow gaming news much will just think Molyneux = Bullfrog = good. Or maybe they liked original Fable.

Err, those who don't follow gaming news much think Bullfrog = what = who = you copped that nba street son

So has anyone played it? Is it any better than the first game, or is it just another sims + easy combat + endless boring minigames in a fantasy world? I have to admit Fable1 was fun for a while, but I really don't want to play the same shallow game again.

yes plz

Maybe I'll not remove this from an inventory when/if it comes out and give myself something to do for two days.

You should probably just skip Fable 2 then. It's pretty much more of the same except with prettier visuals and better combat.

When did Peter Molyneaux say that this game wasn't coming to PC? I thought that was pretty much accepted from day 1, but just never announced (kind of like GTA IV).

There is no definitive statement on the matter, doc_kaz, simply misdirection and a denial (that can be taken any number of ways).
First, Molyneux stated that there was no announcement in regards to a PC port "either positive or negative [...] just yet". That, of course, is your typical ambiguous Molyneux-ism. It could mean anything.
Then we have an outright dismissal from the studio, Lionhead, as posted on the development forums: "We're not working on a PC version of Fable II. If this changes we'll make sure you know about it." Again, the statement is rather ambiguous, in that it only spells out so much information. For instance, we know that Lionhead is not working on a port, but there is nothing to prevent another studio (fellow Microsoft subsidiary or otherwise) from doing so. There exist ample precedent for such things and it would allow the Lionhead dev team to spend their time on a new project (or the creation of further pointless DLC).
All in all, I (like many, I imagine) see a PC port as inevitable. Fable II is a veritable cash-cow and the PC market, for all the cries of "piracy is killing us" and whatnot, remains a strong audience to which the likes of both Molyneux and Microsoft cater.

Granted, you have a point there, Morgoth. Off the top of my head, the last I can recall is Flight Simulator X (and I am pretty sure I read something concerning the cancellation of further titles in the FS-franchise). Looking it up yielded the following result for Microsoft Game Studios, in the year 2009...
XBOX 360 games published: 116
PC games published: 0
...the last was actually Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection, back in December of 2008.

Even so, MGS is only one of the game-dev studios that Microsoft owns and, again, numerous studios have used others to perform ports of their original work. I remain relatively optimistic (in a sense that it will happen, not that I am looking forward to it) that Fable II will eventually see a PC release. It all comes down to profits, mate. I simply cannot see MS leaving a potential revenue-stream untapped.

When was the last time when MS puplished a PC game?

Think hard.

Fable 2 will remain 360 exclusive.
I dunno, Halo 2 to push Vista, Gears of War to push Windows Live?

Fable 2 is prolly gonna be Windows 7 "enabled". Watch out for PC Halo 3.

Fable came out on PC. Fable II will come out on PC. Halo 3 almost certainly will too, but it might be next year. I think that Gears of War 2 is likely as well.

And in the meantime, they are probably sitting there scratching their heads wondering why gamers aren't buying Vista.
