Why?

I mean, PS1 graphics have aged pretty badly. I'm confused.

Due to the Famicom's restricted hardware capabilities, the remake is entirely two-dimensional. Special compensation was made for some of the in-battle sprites such as Cloud Strife's, combining two 16x24 pixel sprites side-by-side instead of the usual single sprite to account for weapons such as Cloud's sword or Barret's gun.

They could have accounted for more than just weapons, just saying. :smug:

Ok, this is interesting, but why waste it on the NES and why waste time and effort on FF7, which began the decline?
Let's face it, FF6 was the best of them, and it's the only one even worth fucking with or playing.

Probably because FF6 is already similar enough to a Nes RPG both in style and technology that demaking it would be pointless.

I cam across this project when it was 20% or so, didn't expect it to get finished because the Chinese rom was supposedly bugged to hell. Nice that they got a romhacker to fix it.

Well, why not create FF6 in a 3D environment then if they're gonna waste time with this shit?

Because serious business and copyrights. Like this one:

It is with our deepest regret that we have to announce the closure of the Chrono Resurrection project. Square Enix Co., Ltd issued a Cease and Desist letter which means the project is publicly closed indefinitely.

That certainly wouldn't be a total waste of time! Sit on hobby project for months and months. Then delete everything because slant- eyed monkeys say so.

yes plz

It was originally made by a Chinese company that specializes in making cheap NES games for a cheap NES knock-off. I'd reckon it's a lot easier to make a crappy 8-bit game (and they apparently just rip graphics from other games to use in their own) than create a fully 3D game. They've also supposedly made a NES version of Chrono Trigger but I can't seem to find anything on it.

EDIT:
Here we go:
chrono.jpg

It's apparently a thoroughly shitty game that ends prematurely.

You might want to check this out, there is a group that has a complete redo of Chrono Trigger for SNES. Its fully playable for the most part and they are planning on adding more tweaks and some small things in the next release.
