When I was thirteen, back through the shadowy ages of pre-time, I was playing crusader and dungeon master. I think, I don't remember thirteen too well, it was the year I got the internet and discovered porn.

You use being thirteen as a reason for not liking RPGs. And, apparently, for being a cretin. It's not.

Imagine that people may change their likings when they grow up. Surprise! And please, do not put words in my mouth. To be perfectly clear, i don't consider this little chump a cretin. I even put myself as an example that people may change, if i haven't i would only still play some stupid ass action games. And look at me now, i'm posting on a nerdy rpg forum. And to balance the politeness/rudeness of my post - fuck off knob.

On my 13th birthday I got my first PnP RPG and that same year I got a Commodore 64, on which I played a lot of pirated games. I didn't put too much effort in those games though, but given how much easier games are nowadays I suppose that I might have completed a lot more of them if I had been 13 today. Since I already liked PnP RPGs I probably would've loved to play Fallout, but it'd be more than a decade until that game came out, at which time I only found it by chance in a store that was having a going-out-of-business sale. I connected the game to some rumour I'd heard of a game that was "like Diablo, but in the future, with guns". When I saw that it was a spiritual successor to Wasteland, I... oh, I'm rambling again, aren't I?

Anyway, I agree that 13 is a decent excuse to be less than enlightened. Kids, you know? Not everyone is going to have the tastes and opinions of adults. Perhaps we should have them all killed though, to clean up the meme pool? Love Fallout Or Die!

That might not help though, as the guy I work with loves both Fallout and Oblivion. He plays a lot of console games. Perhaps we could invent a method of cutting out the console part of the human brain? :?

Back in my days, when I was twelve, we didn't have any games to play. Me and my brother'd get up in the morning and do our chores, help pa' harvest the corn and listen to the evenin' show on the radio, if the weather was alright. Read my first book at 19, played my first computer game at 67 -- still going strong.

Some people like rpgs, some people don’t. You can’t convince everyone to like what you like, it doesn’t work that way.

Trust me, it’s definitely not a blessing. You dream up a deep and imaginative story only to find yourself depress. Why isn’t my life that exciting? :(

I only started to get into CRPG when I was 12, so there is still hope for him. My 9 year old nephew loves Wizardy 8 and Baldur's Gate although he stinks at them.
