Unfortunately, no broadband in Cambodia, so I'll just have to wait to play this one. Have high hopes for it if they can improve the basic game but keep the original's AI

And actually, Wardell is disowning the original game's AI as crap compared to the new one. Supposedly, it's lightyears ahead.

I was in the beta test (got in early on stardock central and they gave it to you for free for putting in their token system), didn't play that far into it. They froze the beta real early and changed a lot of stuff, dev journals are great to look at. The AI should be great and Stardock always supports their stuff.

Stardock promised early on that the game would run on windows 98/ME/2000 and had to spent time creating seperate .exe's to meet their word. These guys are serious about what they say.

It follows more with civiliation game then moo. Open space, not just stars.

And starting with the expansion there is a campaign game mode that is fine tweaked and balanced for the sequal that has the story for the game.

The second game adds ship design (with custom 3D model), custom race (one of my favorite features in any 4x) and race selection (first one only played as humans), overhaul of most systems, great AI and cool graphics.

Has a bunch of cool races and they have former ties to each other and there is per-race dialog for every race, so when they have a vendetta their dialog is different.

No tactical combat thou, just cool cut scenes and attack/armor style ship design.
