Games where being a mage is harder

There is an instance/encounter where due to giving the player character name, would result in an enemy that can only be attacked by it. The enemy does not seem to be damaged by pet/summons/Eidolons (...)

If you try to blast enemies yes, but remember, you can just ice prison, sirroco, fear and so on. I suggest checking this thread :

A pure RP build and I did right in unfair which many people says that is unbeatable without the min maxing and I did fine as probably one of the weakest Wizards subclass.

Blackguards is the perfect example, as mentioned earlier for Dark Eyes games.

• Decent but not abundant single target spells.
• Mediocre Buffs and debuffs.
• Buggy Aoe (cone) spells inexplicably stopped if there's a pebble "blocking" the way.

Still useful but during missions with respawning enemies, they're sitting ducks.

Joke aside, as far as I can tell, it's hard to mage in RoA, maybe it's stronger later.

Stronger than in the previous examples but magic is not overpowered and you have to waste time using mana potions during long fights.

Not really no. Realms of Arkania casters unless hybrids like elves are the proverbial ace in a whole. You can cast an ungodly Ignifaxius firelance if want to and burn through half your astral energy to take out a single enemy, but you won't be doing much afterwards. Casters offer a wide variety of utility and buffs though. Penetrizzel and Transversalis spells are excellent examples of that, but you have to be careful and think twice if it is worth the AE.

I agree that playing a pure spellcaster in PF: Kingmaker is much harder. The game is about being efficient with time, has lots of overland travel, and mostly small areas with only a few encounters.

This is anathema to the vancian caster with limited spells per day, low CON, and requires rest to restore spells. Many enemies tend to have high HP, and depending on the chapter there will be 1-2 saving throws that are not practical to attack.

My first playthrough was as an AT, and I had to heavily crutch on consumables through the first chapter or two even while playing smart and frugal with spells. Mid game is heavy on undead which the arcane spell selection isn't great against. It wasn't until I went to VTomb that I felt matured, and that's only because I cheezed that Lich to snag a 2 level bump.

My next playthrough as a warrior was an absolute breeze comparatively. Meta knowledge factors there, but the attrition was an absolute non-issue. The amount I could get done per rest was vastly increased.

Look to this. What 3 tier 7 druid spells can do in unfair difficulty, at low levels, just be the guy which casts grease and sleep and let your party kill. Don't waste your time with stuff like fireball.

I didn't. You really can't, which was my point. Its the only game I have ever had to lean on consumables in my life. Considering a mage loses little when fatigued, I don't typically rest. My point was that most of the challenges of Kingmaker play to the mage's weaknesses. Its not impossible, just far more difficult than as a warrior.
