I find the idea of being proud for not having played a game distasteful.

What is distasteful is the erosion of standard your ilk is perpetuating by giving everybody a free pass. Decline-enablers, all of you.

Skyrim
just not my thing
had to buy it for Enderal - blasted that one for dozens of hours - no regrets

Dragon Age 2 and Inqisition
Different persepctives, does not looks appealing and worth money&time (latter if you sail seven seas)

Diablo 3&4
after not getting into Diablo 2 despite me playing average or mediocre hack'n'slashes for years. One was expensive and always online (my interned sucked until 2022) and other was too expensive and even more bland
Still bummed for not buying Wacraft 3 instead - now I would need to buy expensive Reforged to get originals versions. :decline:

Second modern Tomb Raider trilogy - just not interesting.

Anything by Ubisoft as of late.
Anything by EA
Any game with an overbearing political message.
Anything with In-app purchases

I find almost nothing coming out entertaining or interest-piquing. It's sad that my hobby is essentially dead to me, but then I'm glad most of my money never goes to these clowns.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
There's lots of bad games worth playing, some have interesting concepts but fail to deliver. The combat system is there but because of the lack of encounter design, it's full potential is never used.

What is the case against nuWolfenstein? I played Wolfenstein:NO recently, and found it really good. It has cinematic adventure parts which make it a little different, but other than that it has all the good stuff: various weapons and over the top bosses.

The only game I consider myself "proud" to have skipped was Mass Effect 3. I was invested in the first two and when I heard about how in ME3, if you exterminated the Rachni they'd throw a replacement queen at you anyway, among other pieces of disappointing news, I got mad that they were clearly walking back the promise that your choices will matter. Then I realized... I can just not play this. I don't have to burn money on something I wouldn't enjoy, and I don't have to lose my temper either. I can just not care, and spend my time playing something worthwhile instead. Haven't gotten upset about a vidya game since.

BG3 - It obviously looked like reddit-bait with shit writing, shallow characters, and woke storytelling. Obviously, I was right.

Any Mass Effect game (technically pirated Mass Effect 1 and deleted after ~10 min of playthrough, deciding it is shit)
Any Dragon Age game (techinically pirated Dragon Age 1 and deleted after ibidem)
Cyberpunk 2077 (technically played it for about ~4 hours on my brother's PC, stopped with disgust midway through the 8 hour long intro; and it was quite recently, after all the patches, the game was still DOGSHIT)
Baldur's Gate 3
Elden Ring

And virtually all modern games, definitely 100% modern AAA games. The only piece of "gaming" hardware I own is a 2015 laptop with 2GB vram. No consoles either of course (technically I own a PS2 somewhere, but I got rid of my 20 years old CRT TV years ago). Because of that, I can only play old games and low-req indies that I pirate (don't have a Steam, don't have a Gog, don't need it, plenty of free torrents around).

never played any pokemon game and don't think i ever will. Seeing how popular these games are, i occasionaly thought about playing one of them too in the past, but always after seeing a glimpse of footage of pokemon gameplay i turned away every single time. When fans hail those games as great rpgs or cherish them for the gameplay, I always feel a bit sick inside and think that these people have probably never experienced a real rpg.

Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
Only one game. It starts with N and I don't know how it ends because every single animation takes so fucking long I'm already dead of boredom.

A post on the first page says that taking pride in (not) playing a video game is wrong.

I both agree and disagree up to a point.

There are a few video games I have played that are so good that I feel better as a person for having done so. That said, they are very very few.

On the other hand there are so many games that I have not played, and I feel kinda silly for making any claim on not having played them. That said, three immediate exceptions come to mind:

# Any and all Bethesda games. The only Bethesda game I ever bought and owned was Terminator 2029 (it's OK fun). I tried out a few of the Elder Scrolls games, but they never clicked with me, the latest one being Morrowind. I have not played any Bethesda-game post-2001. I jumped head-first into the trenches once I heard they'd acquired the Fallout-license, because I knew they could never do it proper justice... and I was right. Because I heard how enormous assholes Bethesda were well before they got their hands on Fallout, and I decided to boycott their games 20+ years ago. I have yet to feel any regret about that decision.

# Bioware games. I played and enjoyed the Infinity-engine games like Baldur's Gate, PS:T and Icewind Dale, as well as Neverwinter Nights 1 (though I admit it was a step backwards). But nothing beyond that. I played KotOR 1 for a spell, but ultimately found it both silly and superficial compared to past titles. I saw the imminent Decline, and I jumped ship. Again, zero regrets, but I see reason to praise the Mass Effect-series for allowing players to transfer their decisions into the sequels, much like past RPGs allowed players to transfer their parties into newer games in the series. That was probably the last decent thing Bioware did as a studio.

# Any games by other studios based upon the games of the two previously. They are plenty. Pathfinder, the other Planescape-game, everything Larian Studios has released (though I tried out Divine Divinity long ago, didn't click with me), everything by Obsidian Studios, etc. I feel like I've dodged a humongous drama bullet by ignoring these games. You don't build anything decent if your foundation is shit and puke.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The real answer here is any gacha shit whose "gameplay" consists of spending real money on in-game items because that is objectively cancer and whoever came up with this business model deserves to be flayed.
