Another day, another retarded Hammer & Sickle review. Gaming Trend has torn the game apart for failing to please the reviewer visually and featuring concepts he didn't understood. The game got 64% and the Coaster Award.

Hammer & Sickle uses the Silent Storm Engine, which was fabulous when it was first introduced, but is now showing its age. Many of the NPCs and characters in the game have a bad case of the "jaggies". Straight lines and corners can be seen everywhere. My system far exceeded the specs, and I had every setting as high as it could go, and it still looked very dated.

Well, I should let the score do the talking as I found this game to be extremely aggravating to the point I couldn't stand it anymore. I even tried some of the save games the developers and publishers provide so that reviewers can quickly access different parts of the game. Let me tell you, I have never had to use those to review a game, but I gave it a try here just to see if there were any great moments I could write about.

Sorry to say I really didn’t find any. Continuous issues with invisible guards, guards that only showed character state icons and no bodies, and random deaths for no reason was enough for me to truly hate this game. Add to that the occasional "missing" key items that would be needed to progress to another area, and I just don't know what to say.
Game companies should start adding "Minimum IQ" to the list of requirements

"Continuous issues with invisible guards, guards that only showed character state icons and no bodies". I haven't played H&S, but from my experience with SS, that sounds very much like the reviewer no longer has line of sight of those guards anymore? That's a feature of the engine, not a bug!

"Well, since I really couldn't play more than a few hours of this game, I can't really say there is much value at all here."

I know that only playing a small part of a game is pretty normal for reviews nowadays, but to come out and say, "yeah, I only played a few hours and I didn't understand what was going on...coaster award!" seems to bother me more than the normal stupidity that comes from these sites.

I am completely new to this particular game franchise. I played the demo and I don't really like it. The game has a very limited graphics engine. The levels are tiny, the camera is rough to control, the voice acting is acceptable. The character development, story, and music are good, but this game doesn't really hold my interest now days. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago this would have been a good release. The game doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Decision making? So what. It's been done before. There is nothing really hardcore about the game except for the story which I could see younger kids not understanding.

In my country the system operates YOU
Well, I am playing silent storm now. Jury is still out but it seems less realistic than jagged alliance in many ways. Also, I hate how it grabs camera control all the time. It is incredibly annoying.

I am also fighting guys in SS uniforms on the M3! wtf? Also, it seems like half the characters have heavy machineguns, which seems kind of bizarre. I also don't like the way they handle machineguns. No one is going to just sit there and take an antire clip being burned into their face...there needs to be only shorter bursts not 64 rounds the second you open a door. In JA I never need to save and reload, and you start off with handguns against assault rifles.

The AI is pretty pisspoor, too. They will just stand in the next room as you burn hundreds of rounds of ammo and set charges off.

I do love all the weapons, though.

Showing it's age? It's not even been a year since Silent Storm was released, is it? I think the reviewer has been busy jerking off to XBox360 screenshots or something.

Wanker. As a game reviewer, you're obliged to play a game in it's entirety, good or bad. You can't get fucking precious because it illustrates what a fucking moron you are and give up. That would be like reading a couple of chapters of a book, or watching the first bit of a movie and giving a review based on an incomplete knowledge of what you're reviewing.
