I've already said such thing, only comparing P:T and Fallout - almost literal quote :).
However, when comparing BG and P:T this way, that's as much as saying that Diablo is better game then P:T. (Since, combat-wise it's much more fun then BG.. to absolute majority, at least. Well, not much of an achevement).
While techically true (again), it does sound a bit fishy, right?

Eh? Combat's only a small part of what makes me prefer BG2.

As for Diablo 1/2, those games fucking stink, empty soulless husks for people who want a free massively multiplayer online levelling grind

He-he, you see?
If we are to judge RPGs by it's RP-value, P:T definetely comes Numero Uno. It may have some parts that suck (like, no character generation with lots of classes(sic!) and races to choose from, no 'reroll stat madness', worse combat, etc, etc), but those are lower priority then actual "story, setting and roleplay", right?
When we evaluate Diablo, we look at how good is it at 'mindless grind' - and it's perfect at that, therefore it's considered a very good game - in it's class, so to speak. But as an RPG it's sertainly sucks balls.
And if we'll give P:T to someone who adores mindless slaugher, but pays no heed to roleplaying, dialogs and story, of cource he'll say that it's an utter crap, and "Only brainwashed fanboy idiots think otherwise."

No, it doesn't. That's a myth.

No.

Then again,m you guys probably have amnesia and forgot about PST's MANY weaknesses. While it's a GOOD game (sometimes great); it has way too many weaknesses to be an in the super category with BG or FO.

Next retard please.

I love how you never ever explain or attempt to prove your opinions.

It makes me horny.

"I love how you never ever explain or attempt to prove your opinions."

A. What would be the point? It won't change yours.

B. It's an opinion for a reason.

"Arcanum > all."

Arcanum is good; but not that good.

Well, the point is, you CAN change someone's opinion about something - I did, and was subjected to this myself.
One must be ready for this 'opinion change', though. If someone thinks that Diablo is a pinnacle of greatness in CRPGs even after trying to play abovementioned P:T, BG and Fallout... well, *shrug*.
On the other hand, I kinda agree with you, Volourn - in this particular case, it's all very subjective, since both games are rather good, and my opinion of P:T being better due to this and this can be (and rather effectively) be countered by saying that it sucks due to that and that, and BG has this and this, while P:T doesn't...
So, it all boils down to subjective feelings, and THAT is hardly a subject to change.
However, you should have, at least, point at the areas where P:T suck so much - just for the sake of education, so to speak. We already agree that combat part is small and neglectable there... limited (but for a reason) character generation... bad interface (not really sure about that - I kinda liked it)... what else?
Enlighten the unwashed masses of brainwashed fanboys :).

The things is we are disucsisng relatively old games. The comaprisons have been made. All of us have heard the pro and con arguments of this so it gets nowher enow. It's the same thing with BG or FO. They both have their fanbases and all the arguments is made. All that is left is 'I'm right; you wrong' arguments.
