What's even more interesting is that three new publishers just made their way in the list of GOG :
.........
Bethesda Softworks

A reminder.

TES: Arena
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Files
Arena optimized to run on modern systems, with patches and extras.

TES: Daggerfall

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
Daggerfall optimized to run on modern systems, with patches and extras.

Get them before Bethesda takes Infinitron old suggestion!

SSI you say :incline:

A 14 year old exhumed corpse never smelled so good.

It's gonna be a hell of a week for RPG news.

With enough publicity Ubisoft might even get enough "Nostalgia $$$" for another Ass Creed DLC...

Westwood, as in the guys who made the Blade Runner adventure? Or does someone else hold the rights now?

Publisher was "Virgin Interactive" so probably Interplay/Hervé Caen.
"Titus" bought Virgin Interactive and Hervé later managed to moved most of the assets over to Interplay.

Otherwise it belongs to Electronic Arts just like all other IP's retained by Westwood.

Also likely Warner Bros (Film Studio) might have a say due to licensing rights on their "Blade Runner" IP.

Yeah, don't hold your breath for any movie license games to be rereleased. Although it'd be funny if the Bethesda releases end up being their old Terminator games rather than Arena and Daggerfall.

P.S. Don't be butthurt

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
Westwood + SSI = Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2 + Hillsfar.

Stormfront Studios + SSI: Gateway to the Savage Frontier, Treasures of the Savage Frontier, the original Neverwinter Nights and the RTS Stronghold...and finally Pool of Radiance 2.

If this is just the tip of the iceberg, GOG just went Full Incline.

Ideally they should keep Arena/Daggerfall free, even if put on GOG.
It's not like they are short for undead cash cows to milk for nostalgia...

They own all of Id's old IPs (Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein), plus the original Fallouts.
There is Morrowind and Redguard/Battlespire also exist

P.S. Don't be butthurt

I despise the current rotting system of IP Profiteering.
It makes a mockery of "Promoting Creativity" purpose for which the Government sanctioned Copyright Monopolies.

It will only get worse with digital distribution due to the disappearance of publishing and distribution costs.
Before Copyright Rent-Seekers at least had to exert themselves and spend money to do a physical re-release.

@Grim Monk

Even though business practices regarding media IP can be seen as rotten (the enhanced ability to DD them is a cherry on top to make this more evident), you will have to wait a little longer till it comes closer to what these fine fellas are doing. Some IP rights enforcement attempts made headlines already (like "Scrolls" by Zenimax and "Saga" by King come to mind). Since the industry isn't fragmented and diverse enough to enable the bundling of IPR from outsiders, expect more and more inflated legal sections inside the industry giants and a shift of focus trying to tap revenue streams simply by enforcing said rights.

The industry is still booming though and with it being an actual industry with sufficient demand to sustain expanding revenue streams, such a future seems quite distant. This doesn't mean that a critical mass of lawyers cannot outweigh the mass of engineers and ultimately shift the management's focus and become an industry standard.

Edit: There is a clear distinction between the "media IP" (mostly derived from creative work) and the "technical IP" (such as software patents which are a complex legal matter and can't guarantee a viable business model by exploiting them the way IV does with regular patents).

Quite off-topic from the gog thread though :P

Bethesda is there because they will bring back Fallout to GoG. It's the most obvious thing, since FO4 is soon to be released.
It would be realy weird if they release 3 there as well..
The other option could be Morrowind, since releasing the lesser known TES games is not really a wise business move. They will have to include Arena and Daggerfall as free extras if they release Morrowind, though, considering they give them for free at their own site.
Or they could just troll everyone and release the Terminator games as Infinitron said.

IIRC FO3 doesn't work on modern systems for some reason, maybe they want to change that state with marvelous GOG team? :troll:

Mods fix that :smug:

The thing is that FO3 still has GFWL attached to it. Shows you how much Bethesda cares for their games.

I remember that FO3 in Potatolande had GfWL removed, but they put StarForce in it.
People already found the way to get around the GfWL, by registering on random UK/US addresses (or the safe one, like embassy) but publisher helped them with this "exchange".

This is amazing.

How the hell is there not a big feature on the front page of GoG, wtf, did they just quietly add these packs?

Nonetheless, this is fucking amazing.

WOW they look interesting, like a retro Elder Scrolls V. Do they have dragons?

They're way older than Skyrim the walking simulator. The original Gold Box Games were released in the late 80s and yes they have dragons. Some you can fight and others you can't like the silver dragon in Pool of Radiance.

It's normal for games to be released on the site a short while before the big front page banner appears.

Ravenloft incoming ?

https://af.gog.com/forum/general/release_forgotten_realms_the_archives_a239d/post28?as=1649904300

Some are talking of blood and magic too apparently...

Yeah, Blood and Magic was in the original "Forgotten Realms: The Archives" released by Interplay in 1999: http://www.mobygames.com/game/forgotten-realms-the-archives-collection-three

Odd that it's not included. What they've released now is identical to the contents of 1997's "Forgotten Realms Archives" (http://www.mobygames.com/game/forgotten-realms-archives, not the same thing), but divided into three parts.
