I just visited the site, and apparently the new campaign is finished...

19th October 2011. TOE campaign completed!

Temple of Eternity (TOE) V1.0 has been completed! TOE is an extensive (100+ levels!) and well written campaign created by Steffen Hagen using the DD2 engine.

Wahay, downloading new campaign now. Dark Disciples is a really underrated olskool indie that, for some reason, has gone almost unnoticed on the Codex, most likely due to most of the posters being too busy bitching about Dragon Age to notice.

It has fun level design, perfectly functional graphics, a good UI and lots of exploration. If you haven't given it a whirl, you might as well - like most of life's greatest pleasures, it's free.

I played the first one some years ago, it was an OK game, almost good... Well, it's better than today's action games with stats and it's free, so check it out and donate if you like it.

They are definitely decent games. Well I never played the fist one. But the second one is.
Kind of sucks that some of the graphics are ripped, creates inconsistency. I don't mind shitty graphics, but I don't like how some things have black outlines and some don't, for example. Anyway not a game to graphicswhore about, the gameplay is solid.

DD1 was shithouse, frankly, but the second one's alright. The combat's still terrible and there's a lot of back-and-forth but the dungeon design and puzzles are neat.

I liked DD1 but I couldn't get into DD2. DD2 has more houses, and shit but most of that is empty, and I got burn out by that.

Temple of Eternity seems decent as well, I gave it a try. Still some ripped graphics that don't fit in with the rest (which is a shame! I love the other sprites).
It's pretty challenging if you steer away from the main quest path too early. I got 1-shotted by a goblin caster.

Replaying Dark Disciples 1 right now (never finished it)... Damn, It's much better than I remembered, with multiple paths to solve problems (even the main quest), stats influencing combat and character alignment influencing lots of dialogue options:

And it's fucking free, so is a must-try if you're not a storyfag, a graphics whore, or Mondblut. My :salute: to Dodgy Soft.

BTW, Is it possible to run a non-violent walkthrough?

The website is now all messed up:
http://www.dodgysoft.com/

The Dark Disciples downloads are gone and instead we have a blog post about mobile game cheats.
I tried to look in the old forums but they seem to have been shut down...

Hope this is :| only temporary and that everything is okay with developer IRL.

Like Courtier mentioned the downloads are at myabandonware. But you can still download the old way by going using the wayback machine.

Can't seem to get Temple of Eternity and/or any related files. Anyone managed to grab those?

edit: found this: http://ancient-architects.com/?page_id=117

Still, no music or cluebook. I hate when shit like this happens.

Luckily :)I managed to grab practically everything back in 2012.

Hi everyone!

Found this thread rather late. I'm the guy hosting all the DD2 games over at Ancient Architects. Just to some points:

  • Laurens (the programmer of DD1 and the DD2 engine) has moved on to other areas. He's fine, but not doing game design anymore. I would have liked a DD3 as much as anyone, but we'll have to survive this way...
  • The cluebook for Temple of Eternity was always available, maybe simply drop me a line? It was not meant to be a public download, since it's the main way for me to gather feedback on the games
  • The ripped graphics - as soon as someone pays a pixel artist, they'll be replaced!

Thanks everyone for your interest!
