What do I have to say to the gaoler in jail in order to be released? I found an old sheet of paper saying that prisoners can apply to fight in the arena, but I tried saying "arena", "fight", "tournament", etc and nothing seems to work.

How does hth combat work? I've got an unarmed vamphyre and I select bite but when I start combat it just passes over their turn every time.
Yeah I'm still stuck in there after killing Grendel. I visited the old Rhattu carver again but he just attacked me and didn't drop anything useful, and I still haven't found a way to access the top of the pyramid so I'll probably end up reloading

I found a crusader shield that is probably exclusive to the Paladin class since my warrior, berserk and ranger couldn't use it.

In all previous versions, you could only scribe books from your class' spelllist. Free for all wasn't on the table. So either bug or a last-minute and highly questionable design change.

Well, you know..!
Cleve gave the Jester special in-game code for determining his bonuses at character creation!! So that character works different form all the other, code-wise, when generated. Very high stats. At zero skills, only a small value [IIRC] in one skill. Has all weapon type skills, all martial abilities by default, ninjutsu, lethal blow, iron hand, Music, Trickery, Robbery, lockpicking etc...
At least I can be a member of a select small group testing a truly amazing Jester from the start.
The tip was from this thread that Barrowers regenerate fastest and all non-mage classes get spells. I was thinking, will a Jester get spells? Then WYTH not should he regenerate fast? Then started a Barrower Jester, named him Hisoka - there is a real jester in the amazing anime series Hunter x Hunter [top ratings] - and gave him the jester portrait.

Umm.. at lower levels, he might have meant only caster classes: sage, necro, thau, wiz, cleric, latter can learn "wizard" spells too.

If you killed him, go to that level where you had to sacrifice your soul. There is two ladder near each other, going up is to the top of pyramid. Grendel doesn't drop anything, is a item where he is(hiding behind secret wall, imo) you want.

Eerie Wastes is the best atmospheric place to begin in. Truly felt like the movie ALIENS. Imagine if Cleve asked one artist to put an Alien monster into Eerie Wastes.

The copper mesh thingy? I haven't really found anything to use it with. At the top level I used Detect Item to locate a key behind a closed door but I dont' know how to get to it

yes, BUT there are only few spell books (most of them are utility books), so not really.

Using the max level of Locate Item makes you see the whole map to the point it keeps save on your map. Thus you can pass a lot of place by knowing the map first(best used in dark places).

Not that I doubt you, I found no evidence to the contrary, ( except the drow creation screen says so ) but how do you know for sure? did you find all items? also do you have any knowledge of good items for other specific races?

You probably mean Templar? didn't you fully identify it and looked at the letters that say which class/race can use it?

Sam thing happened to me -- I opted to kill Lt. Shrike and go from there. He drops about ~8 items

When killing Shrike -- he drops keys that lead underground. I've found different ladders that lead inside those doors (don't know if it was all the doors, though).

Has anyone found the way into Skulheim, past the Knossos webs, Aurora tablet, or Bahomet pits?
I'm fairly certain that:
- The Skulheim keeper is dropping a textbox,
- The runestone in the SW corner of Knossos tower is pulling the wrong text and trigger info.
-There's a youtube video of Cleve giving Lysandra the tablet to summon the chariots. That isn't how it works now;
so if she is supposed to have the tablet on her and give it to you, she doesn't have a trigger to do so when raising the chariot.
-and-- I think he just used the wrong pit copy paste in Bahomet. 3rd coil is either supposed to be pitfalls and not death pits or the well outside is supposed to lead somewhere and doesn't.

If you can get inside skulheim by *methods* it works properly, Arachne is there, the missions that lead there work out, but you're still dead ended. The area unlocked by completion here is eerily empty and seemingly unfinished.
