Probably one of the most negatively influential games ever made. Over 10 years of potentially good games dragged down to shitsville because of the gay open-world mainstream trend which Skyrim boomed.

It's also the day when Poland got independent one century ago.

Both terrible events.

Eh, Oblivion was already out for 5 years at that point.
Ass Creed for 4.

But neither of those influenced other devs to focus on the open world formula as much as Skyrim did, nowhere near. The genre existed, it got more mainstream over time, but Skyrim sent it into full retard. Stuff like Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda would likely have been considerably different had Skyrim not made the bank it did.

Was Skyrim the genesis of the Ubishit design open world full of checklists and "content"? If not, then I'd say it didn't have much influence at all. The AAA space hasn't exactly leapt at first person RPGs since 2011, nor at letting players dink around with hundreds of inconsequential physics objects, nor at the "fantasy life simulator" model.
