I'll have to play it through twice to give a final verdict, but I'm thinking it won't be an easy call to make.

What? Professional game reviewers usually don't even finish the game once before writing up a review!

Wow Brother None, I had no idea you were so anal.

How much do you get paid to review a game btw? DO you get paid by the word, or something?

Anal? I'm just precise.

I get paid per article. How much? Not much. I didn't take this job for the money. It's quite time-consuming though part-time, working for GameBanshee, and I'd make up to three times as much at my old job as a bartender working the same hours. And that's excluding tips.

I just don't believe in doing a job half-arsed. If you do it, do it right.

Sorry.

But don't worry, I already wrote a review of the Mass Effect PC port. It goes something like this "imagine the awesomeness of Mass Effect on the 360...and then multiply it...by a BILLION." (c) Peter Molyneux

I'm glad to hear that Brother None is holding out to get a good feel for the game before giving a verdict. Finding someone with real ethics and standards in that profession is a thing to be treasured.

Makes it worthwhile reading the reviews for me.

THIS IS MADNESS.

Btw, doesn't Gamebanshee earn any money from game advertising or smth? I didn't know they can afford to hire angry cunts to write the reviews for them.

Oh,and i hope you avoid the silly references to marxism-material-determinism-whatnot bullshit you included in the preview. These commies do you no good. ;)

I have no idea how much GB makes total, but it's "not a lot". 's not like we have a full-time staff, just a bunch of freelancers basically.

GB is a fairly oft-visited site, though. Albeit more for the walkthroughs than for news and (p)reviews.

The preview needed more filler. Still going to have to explain HtbaG in the review, though, so that'll have a few references to Marxism. Only this time I'll paint the Strugatskii as heroic true patriots struggling against the commies through the power of words.

No, the English version is not out yet. It'll be coming out mid April according to my press sheet.

Here's a few screenshots:

Meh, he should've been larger, fatter and mutch more rugged. And with this stereotypical dnd dwarf eager-to-smash-some-mugs-jolly look on he's face.
Instead he looks like some aged IT specialist, who happen to larp in his spare time.

They pretty much have only one male adult body type in the whole game. And if you can recognize features on faces in that blur, you have better sight than me. There's certainly no emoting.

Low quality graphics, y'know. So last-gen.

Does that mean that baron Pampa could be basically anyone on the Codex?

Ok, I give up.

I finally managed to make my way to Baron Pampa, and the idiot insists on a boar hunt before getting on with the game. He says something like "ask my master of the hunt about the rules" but I can find no one that has anything relevant to say. So we go hunting, a two minute counter starts to run, time's up, a dozen boars are dead, and it doesn't seem to be enough. I have tried to be the one that always makes the last hit, to be the one that always draws first blood, even tried to single-handedly kill more boars (something almost impossible, at least in the hard difficulty setting), but he is never satisfied and always says "ok, take a moment to rest and then we can go kill more boars".

Brother None, what am I supposed to do with the damned boars to get the idiot off my back?

Yes, that quest is honestly idiotic. I don't think I figured it out myself, but at least I got past it.

Basically, when the 2 minute counter starts, about a dozen or so boards pop into existence, and Pampa runs off to the south. Don't run after him, instead, check your map, kill the boars to the North-East first, then quickly go to the North-West and kill the boars there, and only then run to the south to kill the final one or two remaining boars. If you do it really quickly, you'll have finished the quest.

Because the object of the mission, near as I could figure, is to kill all the boars on the map. So while Pampa is killing them in the south, you kill them in the north.

Yes, I did that wrong once or twice too before trying it like this. I think there might be a master of hunt who is supposed to explain what you're supposed to do, but I guess they didn't localize him? In any case, doing it this way works, if barely. If all the boars are dead when the two minutes are over, irrelevant of who kills them, the mission is over.

Thank you, I'll try it ASAP.

Edit: Ok, it worked. Thanks again!
