Limitations in console technology, the user base is very different and controll methods in console games are different and rather limited compared to the pc. Something like that?

This isn't to dredge up the beaten corpse of the whole "console vs. PC" debate, but there are a few things to consider here.

1) Laptop sales are on track to eclipse desktop sales. I heard this from a couple of Intel execs at a developer conference, but it periodically makes the news rounds.

2) Most laptops--even gaming ones--don't have the kind of horsepower of current-gen consoles.

3) If the majority of new PC owners don't have the hardware to run your game, your audience is limited and your odds of turning a profit are reduced.

4) If the experience on a less powerful laptop doesn't meet current-gen console performance, the PC version is actually worse for more people.

Yes, some games control better/easier with keyboard and mouse, but some folks don't mind using a controller. Some hardcore PC gamers also use gamepads.

Not everyone has the time, patience, and money to keep pace with hardcore PC gaming, which is one reason why that market has dwindled (not to mention piracy).

'Hardcore' PC gaming is bullshit these days, though. Crysis? UT3? What the fuck is this shit? Used to be that if you bought cutting edge hardware, you got cutting edge games, not just shitty tech demos of new particle effects. This has become even worse since the death of art direction.

Real hardcore PC gaming today is found in the older games or the niche games. Space combat sims? X-Com? Dwarf Fortress? CRPGs? 4X? Etc. Anything that makes a console gamer go 'lol wut' is hardcore these days, either because they aren't used to someone playing a game more than 3 years old or because the game is actually innovative & different. Most of my 'gamer friends' are shocked as fuck when I tell them about playing games that are >5 years old, it's completely unheard of in the console community.

Meh, I love new games as much as I love old ones. Maybe I am easy to please, or maybe I've managed to make the right choice in buying games or managed to find something good in the ones I do.

In this age, I couldn't buy a console even if I wanted to, because when I go to stores, console games are in a small section sidelined to all the PC games, and are twice as expensive. The last I checked the prices for consoles, I thought they were ridiculously high.

Right there with you. I nabbed a couple of classics from the GOG beta for my PC, but have also been playing the shit out of GTA IV. I think many people have broad tastes.

Depends on where you shop. Gamestop has all but eliminated the PC gaming section. It's a tiny little corner reserved for the red-headed stepchild of boxed Windows-compatible titles. Sad when you think about it. I bet it has something to do with their focus on "pre-owned" console games because of the huge profit margin in that sector. They don't trade in used PC games because of piracy issues, activation keys, etc.

You can get a 360 Arcade for $199 that plays pretty much everything out for the system, save for a handful of titles that require a hard drive for online play like FF XI, etc. For 100 bucks more you get a 60 GB HDD (not huge, but plenty for downloads, game saves, etc.). Considering that the software library is a few years old now and a bunch of choice Xbox 1 games (many which are also on PC) are backward compatible, it's a pretty good deal. I fire up Morrowind and GTA: San Andreas quite regularly. Both are available for $10-20 (but you miss out on the mod tools, if that's your scene).

I love PC gaming, but aside from a handful of classic titles that I can run on my lappy I've all but given up on current releases. Kind of sucks.

They really believe their shit, it's pretty awesome.

I especially like how each character's characteristic is being black or hispanic.
Yeah it seems quite odd, they say they're going for 'every archetype' and they come up with "angry, cynical caucasian", "tough hispanic who cracks jokes" and "charismatic black athlete who's an amazing soldier"? Why no Chinese? Probably would be a computer hacker/tech specialist, that or an agile close combat guy smaller than everyone else.

They killed that guy off in the first game. Seriously. He was the original squad leader.
