Some moron at <a href=http://www.filefront.com>FileFront</a> has asked one of the <a href=http://www.metalheart.ru/main.html>Metalheart</a>'s designers <a href=http://articles.filefront.com/Metalheart_Replicants_Rampage_Interview/;336;;;/article.html>a few questions</a> like "If you had to design your own space suit, would you include nipples on the outside?", "Where do you believe we go when we die?", and "Do you think that NASA might possibly design space-suits one day with nipples on the outside, or do you think that’s just being hopeful?". Whether he unsuccessfully tried to be funny/original or he is really that stupid is unknown at this point.

<blockquote><b>With so many other RPG titles out there, what did you do to try and avoid falling into too many clichés?</b>

As you know, there are only about 30 typical dramatic situations in our life. Art - and game development as a considerable part of it - only mirrors such situations. So there are very few opportunities to discover something really revolutionary. So, the project is considered good if it includes a piece of it, a part of this and a small bit of that, thus consisting of a rational mix of many known elements. A developer should just present a fresh look on such a mix. The sum-total ought to add up to convey a touch of brilliance. Concerning some RPG stamps, I must point out that the players themselves might miss some good-old long-forgotten clichés, in other words - isometric view, post-apocalyptic world, random encounters… Well, you get what I mean. </blockquote>Uh, no. Actually, we don't.

What's there not to get? He´s prolly making an observation regarding todays games & saying gamers are missing the typical old school FO-"features" like "isometric view, post-apocalyptic world, random encounters…".

Im guessing English isnt his first language?

BTW - what's the deal with this "30 typical dramatic situations in our life"-statement? Is this something u learn in acting/writing-class?

EDIT: And oh I wanna see a pic of these nipple-suits.

From Metalheart's website:
"The game successfully affirms all the best traditions of intelligent RPG such as Fallout and Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura."

First, he didn't answer the question going on and on about some 30 situations bullshit. Second, cliches and features are 2 different things. Third, if he doesn't understand a word, which I doubt, btw, shouldn't he look it up or something? Fourth, isometric and random encounters are neither long-forgotten nor FO-specific if that's what he was hinting at.

I thought he did answer the question. What are they doing to avoid clichés? They mix a lot of stuff and hope that it won't come out as a cliché. The stuff about the 'cliché' features seems out of place though.

Of course, it's easy for me to think that he answered the question, because I'm a bit fuzzy about what "cliché" really means. :)

All of this pesky talk about cliches is interfering with discussion of nipple-suits. C'mon, people - get it back on topic.

Yeah, bringzor it onnn.

I don't see how a dungeon crawler without character creation can actually do that.
