Wasn't it supposed that player forgets something here and there and then improvise on the field in order to make up for it? Wasn't the game supposed to allow improvisations?

Riiiight.

No, even if that was trolling there is still a lot to see here.

Unfortunately.

So I went to that board again, and this is what I brought back:

There won't be a fog of war.
The post from Jochen was from may and back in these days the fog of war was still integrated. Even in times of the gamescom in August it was integrated. And back in these days the fog of war was still part of the gameplay. But it was cut. Not because it wasn't working (It actually worked. Not like some sites may claim that the engine wasn't capable of doing so) but it was not fun at all. Features can change during developement and in this case it happened. It may have been communicated to early.

However let me explain why it wasn't fun: The fog of war lead to dozens of trial and error situations which were not very funny. not knowing where an enemy is was kinda frustrating and the game paused all the way cause you're facing yet another enemy. You couldn't really use tactics but just move along and try to survive. It had nothing to do with deeper tactics and tricking out the AI but just fighting with some luck. In several testrounds with a lot of people it was decided to cut the fog of war.

But you won't be able to construct special mods from or with glue-stuff.

To the grenade thing: already said that there won't be a grenade thrower.

Oh and apparently there's only one attachment slot per weapon too. And no IMP creation:

For the release version we do not plan to allow selfcreated mercs.

They also posted a bunch of preview links:

That's pretty rad. Fuck me dead, as DU put it.

What's most infuriating is how they act like standard features are somehow wrong and broken and were never fun. Fog of war? My God, what an awful thing! Thank God someone finally found a work around by having all enemies visible at all times. What a cool feature!

BTW, the  emote looks like it's blushing at the poster above it.

The title of this topic should be changed to Jagged Alliance: Retarded.

I don't see a valid reason (except in case that rage inducement and possible entertainment with S&M elements that derives from it is considered a valid reason) why this abomination is covered at the RPG Codex.

Why not, given that the series has finally crossed over into full-fledged RPG terrritory now that it has horrible combat.

The combat looks like it's from Men of War. Good thing they didn't make it a FPS though.

It would almost be more faithful to the original if they had made it a 1st person shooter with VATS. At least in FO3 you can't see behind walls and have to walk back to town to buy new guns.

A few gems from the Gamezone preview:

while RTS contemporaries like Fallout, X-com, and Syndicate have moved on to new genre styles, the fact that publisher and developer Kalypso have decided to stay the course with this franchise is appealing.

On plan & go:

it’s an awesome way to fuse real-time and turn-based strategy games. I’m honestly impressed and hope other games steal this idea.

Here's a few more changes to gameplay that i don't think have been discussed before:

Armor not repairable.
Merc just have to be payed once.
Some building can be climbed.

Unconfirmed but not denied either (possibly from previews?):

No specialty ammo.
Level up system, not stat gain from use.
No mortars.
No psycho and other psych profiles.
one difficulty level.

armour not repairable was in a few mods and i thought about it before too, because it makes somewhat sense. On the other hand, quite a few other objects would also fall into the category of "not repairable in the field" like advanced optics and stuff. Not a big deal though.

buying mercs only once is dumbing down. But maybe it's because the game will offer as little content as Unfinished business that it won't matter because you'd finish the game in few game days anyway (since there's pretty much nothing to do in the strategy screen, time will tickle more slowly i guess...)

You can't climb every type of roof in Ja2 either. As long as it makes somwhat sense where you can climb and where not... In some experiment long ago i had managed to have skyrider drop my mercs ontop of a roof from his Heli. They should do that where you can't normally climb the building. But who am i kidding here :( probably two ladders in each map :( and maybe an elevator if someone was creative for once :(

different ammo types should be there, at least according to what i read. But unlikely that it comes with much detail.
retarded level up system is :decline: but it may stop 3 people from grinding and appease 3 rpg fags
mortars were cool. The AI was able to use them much better than normal firearms :(

the rest is the usual dumbing down again

More:

It seems capture points are in, meaning that you don't have to kill all enemies in an area to take control of a map. In fact you HAVE to catch the strategic spots to conquer the map.

Seems that you don't have to use militias (how the hell would that work), but if you do you have to arm and armor them up yourselves.

"The number of militia is for each map different and changes during playing the game. To be honest I don't know the exact maximum for each map. However it is correct that, if you want to use militia (which you don't have. I did, some others didn't) you have to give them weapons and armor each. How to recruit them? Free the map, talk to the persons with a plus-sign above their heads and hand the weapons over."

NV googles "really rare" and gives bonus to hit at night. One preview noted that night-time seems to be cosmetic.

Only one difficulty level is confirmed. Developer suggest disabling some auto-pause functions for higher difficulty.

Hmmm, seems traits may be in anyway.

Insta-heal is apparently in.

Yeah, could be worse.

BIA developers said they removed the ability to climb rooftops beacuse it would have been a huge advantage in some maps.
Some builidings apparently have ladders, and there will likely be "2 in each map" as you say.

different ammo types should be there, at least according to what i read. But unlikely that it comes with much detail.

They confirmed that types such as Ap or tracer rounds aren't in, just different ammo calibers.

retarded level up system is :decline: but it may stop 3 people from grinding and appease 3 rpg fags

Read a preview that said it was in. Not sure what to believe at the moment.
On the other hand a developer said that you get 5 attribute points on levelling up with a level cap of 10 (50 points for attributes during entire game).

The militia business seems to be a little bit more "recruitment light" rather than the sometimes a little outlandish militia output in deserted Sam sites that we're used to. And handing over the weapons is a common request from the micromanagement-fags, but if you're forced to do that in order to arm milita at all, rather than having it as an option to upgrade your militia, it sounds rather unpleasent and tedious.

Read about insta-heal, too. And people were complaining in ja2 already that it took to little time and effort to cure injured mercs. Oh well ... :/

yeah, what's the point of night operations when you know at all times where the enemies are? Night ops are about spotting them and putting them away or retreat before they spot you. The entire idea of night combat becomes obsolete if there's no actual field of view limitations. But y'know, Plan and Go wouldn't work with field of view...

The right question is "wasn't it supposed to be that you were running out of ammo and had to scavenge?"

Now you are able to have a neverending ammo any time, which wasn't possible due to technological limitations of the past.
ShitComposer innovates.

Cramming this much wrong into a single sentence is quite an achievement.
