Serves them right for being called bethesdians since they accepted bethesda style of design and doing a bethesda game.
Yeah, it's hard to believe they'd want their company to make money, or something.

I refuse to believe that Obsidian wants to make money! I refuse to let Obsidian make money!

No, thats perfectly reasonable.

You can also make money by letting someone fuck you in the ass.
Or by making a new X-com.
Or by staring in jackass and drinking your own urine, for example.
hey...its making moneys.

And im only saying this to shed some light on your argument, not because i think Obsidian is doing any of those things.

"Serves them right" for what

Serves Avellone right for claiming he learned his lesson on New Reno and then turning around and becoming involved with New Vegas.

That's a good one. I'll have to remember that.

Anyway, what happened to the one good thing about FO3? The short loading times.

And I don't rember the graffix being that bad in FO3. Is because the console is black?

I was wondering why the Bethesda rep wasn't sounding like an absolute moron. Then I realised he wasn't Bethesda; he was good ol' Josh Sawyer from Obsidian. He should have corrected the guy straight away.

I'm impressed with what I've seen so far, particularly with things like not having to kill anyone. This means there'll be different paths.... like a proper RPG. Conversations, too. I've just finished playing PST... I wonder if we could expect dialogue of that caliber?

Also, the casino minigames didn't look bad! The casino itself looks pretty empty though... as did the Strip. I suppose mods could add more NPCs to the game.

Do they ever make it seem cohesive in Fallout 3 that it's 200 years after the bomb? That always just seemed completely retarded to me. Like culture and history would just fucking stop and shit

Fuck that's so dumb arrrrrrrrrrr Fallout 3 still makin' me mad.

I think as an excuse, the 'making money' argument relies on an implicit statement that the person/company couldn't make sufficient money (to keep making games, to survive, etc) by other means.

Obviously, most people would look far kinder on someone who turns to prostitution because it's the only means of survival in their poverty-stricken country, than they would on someone who does the same thing but simply because they're too lazy/ignorant to get a less demeaning job.

Similarly, to say 'but Obsidian has to make money' is to imply that they couldn't make sufficient money by making games of the style the Codex would like. Which is probably true these days.

It might work if you had a Mad Max setting, where you weren't anywhere near the bombing. Ala the slow devolution of humanity across the Mad Max films in regional Australia - lots of towns which weren't touched one iota by the nukes, but with the capitals gone, no effective government and one by one running out of petrol, medicines, mass produced food etc (as the bombing in other areas has brought centralised production to a halt) it's a slow decline backwards. That could reasonably make for a humanity-at-it's-lowpoint setting.

The Codex doesn't have a style that it likes. Unless it's bitching and whining about EVERYTHING.

EDIT : WTF, a report feature now?

Am I the only thinks the graphics are totally fuck up man?
They look like something from PS2 era. Except ugly. A flat terrain with various shit put on it and awkward looking hills. I dunno - they should've used google earth for reference on how to do real landscapes or something.

Its the engine that makes everything look static and made out of clay.
I'm afraid it's Obsidian. Their previous games look the same.

02:40 Oh my god haha, these primitive 4 words long "dialogues".
"Why do you need my guns?"
No really why would the guy at the door leading into a public place ask for your guns?
Although it doesn't look too public after all.

And oh gawd my eyes - these fugly animations. When they run - the body doesn't move, only legs do - looks like flintstones.
And the suicidal AI makes its comeback - a single enemy soldier running at 4 armed men - jeez
The shooter gameplay looks as awful as it does in Failout 3

Looks like another true RPG from true underground Obsidian which totally sticks it to the man.

I wish they showed some dialog trees.
They did.
And that other one with "we can attack from west or east!" (considering that it's a fully open map, where you should be able to attack from anywhere but nooo)
Non-linearity Obsidian style haha

I mean Obsidian is so pathetic and pitiful these days I feel bad for laughing at them. They can't even do it better than Bethesda. They even left quest-compass intact.

Next month: morons crying about how Failout 3 New Vegas is a true RPG that sticks it to Bethesda and Bioware once again, while being a shitty clone of Failout 3.

There is a third solution of swallowing your dignity a bit for an "easy" and fast money rather then working hard at something and receiving a bit less money overall.

Im not so sure they will be making lotsa money on this one anyway seeing as its very likely Bethesda will take a good chunk of it for themselves.

And no one said they have to make games codex would like - if that thing exists at all.

There's probably impassable terrain to the north and to the south. Did you ever think of that?

Suck it, skyway. Stop crying and suck it.

But Vegas is in a place not very affected by the bombs, New Reno was in the middle of nothingness.

Chill out, guys. All that has happened will happen again. We will get our new Darklands, Wasteland, Fallout, JA2 and PST, all of them in different hides. It's just universe's way of telling us not to get stuck in the past and nostalgia or absurdities like a bunch of rich fat pigs oiling money for things as worthless as mere "titles".

So until then, enter your Gamer's Torpor and chill out.
