I got up to the last boss on medium with the marine, got the health master perk (seems shit) and I was seemingly op. with a railgun But... apparently not op enough.
He summons dudes constantly, aoes you with missles and has a beam weapon.
Tried to burn him down, died then rage uninstallled.
Fun times, might have another go tonight.

DoomRL was nice. Is this also nice?

Kinda.
I don't fully get their design - it's either I dont understand something, or shif of balance on release is as such, you can't beat the game on nigthmare with melee unless you will find good exotic on Callisto or early Europe.
I beat the game resently with marine-melee on nigthmare- after release, but I coudn't do that on UV with melee with tech and scout (scout was taking to risky route with CRI Labs thoug).
It is notmal that you can't win the game without lucky drop? Dunno.

DooMRL was simplier and more complex I think.

It's pretty fun, right up until you run up against the purple bastards that bum rush you. Been trying the dualy pistol build, which is probably not 'optimal'.
That's a complaint I have with a lot of rogue-like games how you end up being an autist to min-max the game, takes a lot of the fun out of it all for me

Builds that arn't optimal are fine at hard even, maybe some at UV, they arn't at nigthmare only, so don't bother yourself with that unless you going to play nightmare.
