Obviously, you want to turn our attention to the nice aviator glasses featured prominently in this picture.

That stumpy tree-bush thing looks shifty. I do not trust that fucking thing in the slightest.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1493481645/democrats-vs-republicans?ref=category
Democrats vs. Republicans caters to the worst stereotypes from both sides of the political divide. It's a PC based real time strategy game along the lines of StarCraft or Age of Empires. That means each team has several different buildings and units, each with unique strengths, weaknesses and abilities that interact together. The game is played on a map with the goal of gathering resources like money and votes, building up a base and creating armies with which you can find and destroy your opponent’s base.

Features
  • 20 different Democratic Units including Union Workers, Welfare Moms, EcoNuts and Hippie Vans, media figures like Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann, and political leaders like Clinton, Gore and Obama.
  • 20 different Republican Units including Red Necks, Tea Baggers, Religious Fanatics and Survivalists, media figures like Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, and political leaders like Bush, Cheney and Romney.
  • Every unit has their own unique attack strengths and weaknesses.
  • 5 Democratic building structures (such as Solar Cells and Ivory Towers).
  • 5 Republican building structures (such as Oil Pumps and Churches).
  • Campaign play against the computer AI with 20 different map levels (each corresponding to a different state).
  • 2 player head-to-head network play.
  • Unaffiliated units like Suicide Bombers and bank-spawned Vampire Squids.
  • Units with special abilities like cloaking, stealing, harvesting, healing and freezing enemies into ice blocks.

Hi, I'm the programmer behind Fall of Eternity... Thanks for your suggestions and (constructive) criticism.

It's OK if you don't like the idea. It's a radical experiment and it's going to be a freeware game. We're really not asking for much...

We'll be sending a copy to The Escapist and letting Yahtzee rip it to shreds if he so pleases. We made it as apparent as possible that this game was inspired by his article from last year.

After listening to some input from our backers, we recently decided to open up the world a bit, and change the view to a TES-style first/third person (sorry to the user who wanted it to be isometric :/).

You get in-game bonuses for backtracking to high-level areas. There will be a HUGE easter egg for players who can successfully get through the first dungeon at level 1.

The villain has placed wards across the map to keep powerful beings away. A good chunk of the game will be open to explore from the get-go, but important events will be restricted by quest events and/or player level.

The "level down" system works on a number system similar to deteriorating weapons in countless other RPGs. On top of dealing with weapon deterioration, you'll also be managing character deterioration.

The "failed quest" system is simply a story device. Like plenty of other RPGs, you will have to complete quests to advance the game and explore new areas. For all intents and purposes, in terms of game logic, you'll successfully complete each quest. It's purely aesthetic - you'll get a disappointed blurb from the NPC instead of hearing how awesome you are, and the story will move on.

Instead of building choosing a class at the beginning, you'll be chiseling away at a full template, gradually specializing in certain fields by removing others from the equation. You literally start the game in god mode as an overpowered omni-specialist, and end the game with a handful of skills you really like. The dungeons have numerous paths for players with different skill sets.

There is a surprise ending. The "rat quest" towards the end is meant to mislead the player... I revised the statement on KS, had no idea it would be a deal-breaker (we thought it was pretty funny)...

wizardbox, Create a new thread in the RPG section of this forum, you could present your project better in doing so.

$354,997 for a PnP minatures ruleset. Wow.
I'm pretty sure the ruleset has been out for some time (I'm pretty sure I heard about it before). The reason people are throwing their :jewgold: at this is because a) They're getting minis relatively cheap, b) said minis are of a pretty good quality and c) They're offering to have said minis painted by some really, really, really good painters. Some of those painters won golden demons. If you were to commision them to paint, say, your Spehzz Mahreenz, they'd charge hundreds of kwabucks per unit on top of material costs.

This is gold.
A hoax-based Android/Apple game in kickstarter. By a phony Dr with a phony PhD specialized in the Bosnian Pyramids (sic), a pure hoax that's still very much alive.
Even better, there is blatant art stealing:
48f0b2e4d320e285b3b94d030cc8d6ea_large.PNG

which come straight from Starship Troopers with two yellow blobs for the eyes (or something)
The only not phony-looking thing is the dev, whom looks like an honest to goodness dev. Well I didn't look him much, but still.

Dude, you should totally listen to the shit Macedonians are telling on their TV/Radio. If you ask them, they've got stonehenge, pyramids, writing, hanging gardens, great wall, etc. at least ten thousands years before other civilizations. And first rocket in space was Macedonian. Balkans for the lulz.

That does look amazing, but stop motion is pretty intensive work, wonder how a whole game would go with it.

Might consider the base level next payday.

I really want to back that, but I doubt their credentials and the amount needed seems really small, the reason no one uses stop motion much anymore is because the time and money needed for it is so high.
