I haven't covered this game previously, but someone told me it might be Morrowind Reloaded with better design and lore, I never played Morrowind but I've heard it had cool underwater areas so I might as well post about this one. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is Ken Rolston's (ex-Bethesda employee, Lead Designer on Morrowind, now with Big Huge Games) big new project.

Reckoning is an epic, open world role-playing game that gives fans their first experience with Kingdoms of Amalur™, a new universe imagined by R.A. Salvatore, brought to life by Todd McFarlane, and designed by Ken Rolston and his team at Big Huge Games.

The release date has been officially announced, February 7th 2012 for North America and February 12th for Europe. Read the press releases at our press release storage.

This game is everything that is wrong with current modern gaming. I would be ashamed if someone walked into my computer room and saw me playing it. All flash, flash, flash, and nothing else. So juvenile that it is an insult to almost any adults intelligence. The action looks so unbelievable and flashy, it is almost out of a superhero anime with all the hyper-deformed super moves where time stands still. For the average console fratboy who just wants to splatter imaginary demonic monsters apart and feel powerful, this is awesome, but for everyone else like us who want something more meaningful and cerebral this is a total embarrassment.

The fact that McFarlane has huge clout on the project and does the character design does not help.

I will buy Dark Souls instead of this insipid WoW clone to get my action RPG fix.

Looks more like Wow relaoded with single player... Published by EA. What good has ever come from that company? Also does this means that Bio lost favourite pet status with EA, after the flop of Buttom awesome DA2?

As bad as it looks like it'll be, it still looks better than Skyrim. Except in art style, good god that art style is terrible.

I find it interesting that you can base your very vocal opinion upon viewing a sole game trailer.

Have to admit though, that the somewhere-between-fable-and-WoW artstyle is pretty bad.

Well, I guess they went ahead and established they'll have a terrible WoW/Oblivion hybrid art style. Good to get that out of the way.

LOLWUT. You better explain who the person that told you that is. It's anything but. And it's been covered before, in news and other threads. The general consensus about the game is "lolwut, it sucks, r00fles!"

Also a living testimony to the fact that Ken Rolston has lost it. I guess that happens when you're old enough to go senile. Perhaps he should rename his company to Old Fart Games.

Oh noes it looks unbelievable and flashy. I wish all you fucking realismfags would shove a gun barrel down your collective throats and pull the fucking trigger. Not everybody wants a realistic medieval larping simulator.

That said, art direction is shit. Will still buy because it looks better than twitcher 2 and whatever jizz bioware is about to splurge in the collective mouths of its fans.

Actually seeing armour and things showed in the trailer linked here reminded me off Dragon Age. But I guess that is were we are at now, all games looks the same.

Only one enviroment in that trailer looked good, that is the autumn leaf one.

For some reason this reminds me of Dungeon Lords. I wonder is it will be able to capture that fun but still kind of shitty je ne sais quoi.

Why?
Because what I've seen of the character and combat systems look better than what I've seen of Skyrim's so far (even if the latter is QTE inspired-by-God of War crap and the former also has its oddities; no attributes and strength is a skill for some reason). Still, it's about time Bethesda received some competition for their particular style of gameplay even if that competition happens to be a slightly different kind of horrible.

Oh, well I thought that you mean the look of the game, cause this sure looks shitier than skyrim, at least to me.

Looks all right to me, though the weapons seem to be a bit too small, no?

I like how on top of the weapon's ridiculously unrealistic size the guy holding it isn't even holding it in a believable manner. One would assume that he'd place one hand near the top and one near the bottom in order to get better leverage for his swings, but no he's using both hands to hold the very, very end of only one side. Whoever that is, he's confirmed for the title of supreme retard.
