making kotc 1 art assets = faster/easier than making what's shown in the kotc 2 video.
Uh, no? What's easier, to draw pixel art:

Or to take any image from google and just crop it in a circle:

I see a rich partnership with pogs in this KOTC2's future.

So? He could have recycled like 50% of the old content and we wouldn't have given a shit. This is just lazy/ugly/incompetent. This guy hates money.
No, recycling shit is lazy. Completely changing the art-style so that anyone can expand the game in minutes is forward thinking.

Is there any confirmation that graphics can be changed? It would be great if you could replace the tokens and maybe even the backgrounds. For the tokens one could for example make them look like miniatures, like this: https://www.wizards.com/playdnd/playdnd.asp
Even without animations they could look cool. Add a bit of perspective to the backgrounds and you're good to go as far as graphics go.

Glad to see the project is not dead yet. Am I the only one who doesn't care about graphics a bit?

I would prefer KotC1 style pixel art and animations, but the new gfx are no deal breaker for me as long as the gameplay holds up.
It's the price he pays for including so many classes, spells, creatures etc which would all require animations. It probably was just beyond his financial possibilities.

This reminds me of Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon and other D&D games. Great visual style to pick, he just needs to change the colours and fonts on all of the controls. White text with black outline over saturated colours has got to go. Thankfully these things are easy to fix at later stages. Other than that looks on track to me.

On the music, what is in this video does not fit the setting.
