Thank god for pc's and torrents eh? Having to buy shit like armour and minor quests is idiotic when that stuff used to come for free. At least the pc has an active mod scene that has been providing a lot more quality content then Bethesda has up till now.

"First and final warning," Vault Dweller. That was his statement about pirating.

Context moron. There is a difference in making a reference to piracy and blatantly demanding pirated material.

I wasnt serious about "blatantly demanding" it, you know. And a reference? He basically confessed that he downloads files that he finds are not worthy of his money. Codex complains about biased and bribed reviewers and the ridiculous hype and yet when one chooses to test out the games and see if the publishers fed lies, everyone goes nuts about it. I wasnt the idiot who whined that he spent his 50$ on Oblivion and it didnt deliver what was promised.

10-20 dollars? Wow, the rape not only continues but increases pace.
$10 for the DLC, $20 for the boxed set IIRC.
Yeah, I re-checked after I found out that you could download it too:
$10 for just KotN, and $20 for the boxed set with all of the other dlc. That makes the rest of the garbage about $0.8325 ea., which IMO is still at least double what they're worth.

Another nice little thing to mention is that AFAIK those console kiddies with M$ Live! get free points just from playing their little games, which means, that, potentially, to them that dlc is free, or well, sort of...

Piracy: NS. I've seen so many mentions of torrents, downloads, etc. in all sorts of threads that I thought that people just didn't care here. Well, at least no one bitches about the no-cd/dvd cracks here which on other forums appear to be as verboten as mentioning torrents and downloads...

Tangent: I fucking hate pirates, unless they have a hook, a wooden leg, an eyepatch, a fitting hat and a parrot mounted on their shoulder. I will always scream with bile and rage when I see unprosecuted thievery. It harms my personal interpretation of justice, which is of course just a subjective and very relative interpretation. If a game is shit, then WHY do you pirate it instead of not playing it at all? To clog up your harddrive? To satisfy masochistic urges? Software pirates should be hung, quartered and drawn, and their little brains should be dried, ground into powder, and launched into the sun. If you are a pirate, at least don't mention it like the moron you are.

Focus: Shouldn't it be "HANDS OFF"?

So murdering or selling into slavery women and children is ok, going against the kings 'n queens of sovereign states is ok, blowing up and sinking innocent merchant ships with 100s of innocent working men is ok, but playing with someones intellectual property that the owner was never gonna get the money for anyway tears up your insides?

Way to have perspective.

The most pirated piece of software? (clue: it's owner is one of the richest men on the planet).

EDIT: Oh yea, on topic - KotN probably isn't even worth pirating.

As for the piracy, so what? if you enjoy it, buy it. If not, not. I am too lazy to pirate a damn thing, but it is corporate bullshit propaganda that states piracy is the doom of software everywhere.

I use photoshop and studiomax at work (or anyway have in the past) with paid copies. Now I am doing some modding stuff for fun. Should I pay 7500 for that? That is pretty ridiculous. On the other hand, if I do publish a game that used them then I will register them.

Should I pay for a game I just want to get a feel of so I can argue about it on the internet intelligibly? Note I never bother doing so but with all the games I played for less than an hour I certainly wish I had. that would be thousands of dollars saved.

People who are excited about a game don;t torrent it. they HAVE to have the boxed version, or the special edition. I bet a lot of customers companies have come BECAUSE they pirated products and liked them, and then either bought them or bouht the sequel.

The most sad thing is that people will buy this up left and right and STILL not see the crap that all this "Pay As You Go" mod system has produced.
I would hazzard a guess and say that's because they don't think it's crap.

Yeah... I think you're the first person who mentioned that other shit. Maybe if you made a thread in General Discussion he would share his views on slavers, revolutionaries, and real pirates?

And if he doesn't think that stuff is as bad as computer piracy, who gives a shit? He's entitled to his own opinion.

$10 might not seem like a big amount, same as the $2 for the orrey or whatever other crap beth sells. BUT, the thing is, it's WAAAAY overpriced, for what it actually offers. If you don't learn to buy your money's worth with small values, how do you expect to do it with larger prices (like buying overpriced cars, houses or something)?

Being a conscious buyer (and not a mindless "consumer") is a skill you need to develop and it applies to all price ranges.

So you'd pay 10$ if Pete gave you his crap hot and fresh out of his ass, in a shiny box, just because it's 10$?
If I could get ten to twenty hours of enjoyment out of it, yes.

And Oblivion costs less than five times that amount. Not to mention that even though it's a crap game, Oblivion still took more than five times the effort of Knights of the Nine.

What's really amazing is that even with rampant piracy, porn is still a very lucrative business...

Why would you pirate porn? There is more free porn on the internet than you can shake a stick at, for all tastes and variations. Diaper porn? Check. Clown porn? Yeah baby. Horses-being-fucked-by-machines porn? Pass the Kool-Aid!

Because it costs very little and increasingly less to make? It's going to get a lot cheaper though, Western porn actors are way overpaid.

I am waiting for the Third World to take over the entire porn business in ten or so years. You'll have small dirt poor countries specializing and making a large part of their GDP from selling smut... That's where globalization is heading.
