Whoa, I thought Maxis was dissolved already. This looks a lot like SimCity4 which had some great ideas and was definitely expanding ideas of the original SC's so this looks even more detailed. Hope they manage to pull this off, SC games are among my favorites. TBH, I hope they don't spend too much time or hype disasters. I'd want more realistic disasters as opposed to the usual crazy stuff like Godzilla.

Although this makes me wonder, will civic buildings finally actually require people to work in them, a-la CXL? That'd be pretty cool actually, since in previous games you could spam the shit out of civic buildings as long as you could afford them and the upkeep, thus having zero impact on job market. This "resource" talk may mean that they're finally putting additional factors into SC.

Although SC2K had no additional resources required in it and it still fucking rocked, so like that even matters.

Joystiq reports that lead designer Stone Librande has said the always-on is necessary for the game’s “emphasis on multiplayer and regional impact, and the use of a global economy that all players can influence.” Those features sound brilliant, and when I’m in the situation to be able to use an internet connection, I’ll be delighted that they’re there.

There was an entire website for it, similar to Loverslab during the Sims 2 generation, if I recall. The only mod I can recall off-hand is the In-Teeninator, which was a mod that allowed teen pregnancy and adults to sleep with teens. Because that's what everyone really wanted, a sugar-daddy simulator.

Police station could be represented by two cops going down on an inmate for example and prison would be guy repeatedly dropping soap, the possibilities are endless. I did a similar thing. Fat black guy who fucked everyone. But then as he always threw late night parties, he got caught by everyone and they just said fuck off black guy. So he moved in with just one and sat at home and watched tv and played virtual eyeglasses.
