So, as people have wished, here's the Omega Syndrome Let's Play. Since I don't want to experience the empty feeling that many players experience when playing other cRPGs, I'm going to play it in Iron Man mode, which used to be known as Hard Game mode.
In Iron Man mode, I get only one chance just like in Real Life and I'm going to get reminded about it if I'll reach some Bad End.
So, without further ado...
I always wanted to have that box.
So, here's the instruction on what to do on that intimidating screen full of stats.
I create a charismatic diplomacy guy with Genetic Gift (Guess which Fallout perk it is). In older versions of the game it was kinda suicidal but this one is better balanced because someone has noticed that the challenges faced by the Character in the beginning of the game are more like challenges faced by a level 3 character in Fallout.
No, not the empty feeling!
A comic book cutscene.
And here's my 3rd level. I'm Max Power. A veteran soldier and a special agent, not some Vault Derper.
I got free weapon skills as a part of my soldier/agent training. Note how I didn't gain any hit points.
I also picked a very original perk called Leadership Material - it improves initial reactions to me by 10%.
Apparently, my Mission Notes got updated - let's check them out:
Also, I got access to some archives:
I got some information about my pipboy.
And information about some alien guys.
Armed with that knowledge and my trusty Colt .45 I move into the tunnel.
Some objects have descriptions but most of scenery is completely non-interactive, especially boring uninteresting objects like trucks with machine guns and computer terminals.
I meet some guy and he immediately aims his pistol at my heart. I'll better get used to it as aiming weapons at my heart is the favourite hobby of all armed people in this world. Of course, it doesn't have any consequences if combat starts.
Max Power:
I'm Agent Max Power and I'm here on important business (you
give him your papers).
Seargent Vestry:
"Your papers seem to be in order Sir. What can I do for you?"
Max Power:
Why is Gamma 15 ignoring our communications?
Seargent Vestry:
"I don't know anything about that Sir. All I know is two of the
biggest worms I've ever seen crawled up through the elevator
shaft and killed Dutch and then the order came down to seal the
base. So I locked the doors and I ain't opening them till General
Bellman says otherwise."
[Done]
Seargent Vestry:
"Do you want anything else Sir!"
Max Power:
I want to go into the base.
Seargent Vestry:
I'm sorry Sir, the base is locked down. No one goes in or out until
General Bellman says otherwise."
Max Power:
[Diplomacy] What if something bad happened in there and the
General needs help?
Seargent Vestry:
I didn't think of it this way. The pass code is 8648."
[Done]
Seargent Vestry:
"Do you want something else Sir?"
Max Power:
I need an escort Seargent.
Seargent Vestry:
"Yes Sir!"
[Done]
I click on the single interactive crate in the area and find a single stimpak.
Then I use the terminal and I have to manually enter the code. Which means that it's probably possible to write down all known codes and use them in a next playt-hrough.
Yay, another cut-scene.
I don't know why, but I find the writing in this game seriously weird.
I exit the elevator and immediately I have to face the terrible Drill Worms that have massacred all the trained personnel defending the base!
I quickly defeat them together with my body guard.
To be continued...
