The wedding crash is the best example of what's wrong with this game: It is not the story, but the writing.

In a cheesy space opera, it would have been one of the highpoints. The heroes and the villains come face to face for the first time, Icari and the captain finally have a chance to put all that 'personal shields and swords' worldbuilding in use, Sola can put her super genetically modified sniper to use, and all the relationships and previous choices can be given some cosmetic consequences.

Instead we get some MWAHAHAHA, four shots, two guards, and one failed assasination attempt. They didn't even draw a special CG for the 'offscreen ground battle.'

And then the Sunrider leaves without first firing the vanguard at the Star Palace while shooting all of its guns, rockets, and missiles at it to at least kill Porkchops and Fontana, two bloody Veniczar, one of which is going to invade the alliance in the next bloody mission.

They should fire whomever is doing the writing and hire someone who knows how to play the cheese for all its worth.

Now, there can be no doubt about Arcadius' ambitions. With PACT now at its doorsteps, the Solar Congress has convened for an emergency session. The only possible outcome is a declaration of war. The Sunrider is now caught in the middle of the biggest intergalactic war of our time.

I'm not sure just where we stand here...

My gut feeling tells me that the Alliance is our best hope of defeating PACT. The Sunrider's just one ship against an entire empire. We need powerful allies if we're going to survive.

Right now, practically the entire Neutral Rim belongs to PACT and the few independent planets left don't stand a chance by themselves. The Sunrider's a good ship, but it's just one ship. If you want to end this war quickly, working with the Alliance is your best bet.

You have a point there. Yeah, I think we can trust them. I know Grey did play it both ways in that diplomatic mission - but that's just him trying his best to overcome's the Alliance's doubled-edged democratic government.

There is nothing else I want more, Captain. But the Alliance hasn't seen a war for hundred of years. I will not mince words, the situation is not looking good here.

Years of neglect and bureaucratic resistance have made our fleets inefficient. Only one will make it in time to Far Port to meet the PACT assault. We are not prepared, Captain. Some of our ships have not even been manned for decades. Worse, our supply chains are scattered across our territory with no unifying chain of command.

The Alliance has enough resources and economic strength to win this war. What we lack, is time. Therefore I need your help Captain, in holding Far Port with the Second Fleet until the remaining Fleets arrive.

Intel suggests five PACT fleets converging on Far Port. The Commander of the attack is Veniczar Cullen. A man I am sure you are familiar with.

All together, I predict at least seven battleships, six carriers, eighty cruisers, and over four hundred support vessels. Furthermore, we have reasons to believe that that Arcadius himself will be personally observing this battle from his Flagship, the Legion.

With only a single fleet to defend Far Port, we're outnumbered one to five. Those aren't good odds, admiral.

I am fully aware of that, Captain. Therefore, I am appointing you as my special advisor.
