Yeah it's been while... But now it's time for a megaupdate!!!!
Alright from the point where we last went off I just beaten that filthy wannabe knight Lord Kilburn and took his mullet. What did for several turns was just explore and take the nearby resource points. Nothing too exciting so I didn't take any pictures. Only thing of importance was the heroes of Green entering my territory and finally the appearance of Orange Hero.
One of the green heros got too damn close for comfort and I suspected a potential take over move, so I chased after her with Rox. Amusingly enough the computer bolted to the Alchemy lab which was guarded by a mob of Elves and lost the fight to them.
Anyway I decided to test out the liches along with the other stacks that were on Sandros to get the artifact close to my starting castle. The strategy here was to let them come here while my liches pelted them with the dust bomb and let my other units attack the ones that got too close.
I decided to push my luck and fight the paladin which could potentially massacre my army what with pallies being strong against undead. In practice however, it was a total joke as there was only one and he died on the counterattack after he struck my vamps.
With Roxie I managed to attack the weakest Green hero and rid myself of one hero
And not too long after that I chase off another encroaching Green hero which will lead to a battle for their only castle.
Meanwhile I chase off the Elves with Sandros and nab me the Alchemy lab.
Yeah this is a pretty crap screen shot. The significance of this is that I traded a bunch of wood and mercury for five crystals so I can get to building the laboratory next turn.
Now after chasing that hero in the previous screen shot I follow her to her castle. For this part I savescummed again, since this one was carrying that Ice ray spell which for some reason really hurts my undead units. In previous encounters she managed to wipe out my new Liches on Sandros and that was not good so I savescummed on that. Anyway I retreated so she wouldn't chase after me, and hoped she'd either camp or move away. So I could either attack or wait for Sandros to ferry in new reinforcements since Roxie's troops are fairly meager.
So when she moved away from the castle, for who knows what reason, I charged the castle and was meet with not that great of a garrison. As you can see I opened up with a death ripple to make this fight quicker since they're all fairly squishy. The druids got one shotted and everyone else lost a chunk to their stacks. The pixies bum rushed my vamps and died after the attack and the elves manged to kill five of them before and after my attack on them. I decided while skipping through my other units' turns to use magic and well I killed them off.
I casted death ripple to weaken all of the enemies to speed through this. Druids die on taking it then the pixies get killed by vamps' counter and I finish off the elves after vamps attack with some magic.
Get a level up and increase my wisdom
Here's the newest castle, it's kind of developed
With Sandros I go after to the alchemy lab and the elves scatter, after that I go to the orcs.
They don't scatter but the battle is pretty simple. My units that did the killing was Vamps, Liches, and skellies. Did the usual of casting bloodlust on vamps and one shotted one stack. Liches killed another and then I moved my skellies on haste to another which they killed next turn. Vamps killed another and the combat was ended when the liches one shotted the last orc group.
Level ups ensue, and I choose pathfinding and necromancy, not like it really matters as my main will do the fighting.
Back at my base I dump my gold to buy fours as I lack a mine and I need them for my lab.
Next turn this pops up and now I'm only left with Orange to fight with.
I finally buy the bone dragons and spend my money on getting more troops and my very first bone dragon.
Here's an update on Roxana's stats.
I go buy a cloud just cause.
I use the harnessed troops for Roxie against the Medsas(ae?) and it pretty much relied on my liches shooting them while everyone else meleed. They got real close together which came in handy as the Lich dust balls do splash damage and I end up killing my skellies with the splash but also winning the battle.
Another level up but whatever. I pick wisdom
And here's something more important! See for the longest while Orange hasn't really done anything but wander within their territory which happens to be walled off except for some access points guard by monsters. I figured they'd continue to stay within their area since it would be smarter to not risk any unit loss by letting the enemy go through them, which makes sense seeing as how close I am to their entry points. Turns out they killed one of the mobs which happened to be Orc Chiefs and snuck beneath my notice.Up until that moment I'd just assumed they bunker down and I'd just build my forces up at a leisurely pace and then kill their insane number stacks.
Going back to my necro castle I invest in the only upgrade that matters and that is Liches! I then buy what few are in the building then spend cash on upgrading the rest.
I then spend a bunch of turns walking Roxie and Sandros closer to each other and ferry off the reinforcements and ditch the mummy since my skeletons score more kills than they do.
Really lame battle ensues as I catch up to the Orange hero and win because he flees before I can kill his pigs. As the remaining battles will show, my dragons really didn't get to be used much
After derping around and trying to find the exit/entrance they're coming out I find it, and then storm their unprotected and woefully underwhelmingly guarded castle.
Next turn I go and... YAWN a really easy battle and my dragons being underused.
Another level up with wisdom being maxed out
Another easy fight, and afterwards during my turn and the next I complete my mage guild
On my way to get those spells I come across another Orange hero and get an easy fight.
I don't make it in time to fend of orange from taking my castle, they also left before I can take the hero out.
Easy fight and another level where I take navigation because I'm close to winning it's just a formality now.
As you can see I've been on this map for quite a while.
Some time later the same hero that took over the castle did it again, so I reloaded and bought a hero and kitted loaded her with units to act as a guard dog against the last hero. Why? Because I was feeling too lazy to persuit and would rather mash end turn and run the clock to get their castle to zero.
Some time passes as I mash end turn...
and BAM!
Get this cutscene with congratulations and our next briefing. Seems there's some barbarian rabble his father didn't bother dealing with, and now we're tasked to bring some civilization down to them
And we get a pretty straightforward mission objective that's the same as last.
And now we're done with the first mission and on to the second!
As for some final words, well I could have been quicker with the conquering and I also wished I'd gotten the dragons sooner since I didn't get to use them.
Changing subjects, we're on the second mission and there's some branching up ahead which will be fun to choose when we get there. Also what class of hero to play as next mission? Obviously if your choice but I'm leaning favorably to everything but the barbarian. As always I look forward to seeing comments and bitching about my skill or lack thereof.
