Treave, did we bring food with us for the trip?

There are enough biscuits to last three people a day or so.

treave, I take it that our bum leg wouldn't affect our PC's ability to swim if need be?

Not sure if I talked about whether or not Wrinkly could swim. I don't think he'd have had the occasion to learn, growing up in a landlocked region. But he can probably hold his breath for a really long time, so there's that. The girls are another matter of course.

treave, how strong does the current sound?
You are unable to determine whether it sounds like a waterfall, seeing as you have never encountered a waterfall before, and you do not know how far away the water source actually is. The sound is not particularly loud at the moment.

treave Do the orders connected to respective countries answer to said countries leader?

The orders come from their respective countries but their funding comes from the Tower's taxes and also a collective budget contributed to by each nation participating in the treaty. They are not directly answerable to their own heads of state, especially when in the Tower.

Confirming what we already know: it's A bAndwagon hit by A lAndslide, 13-to-2.
Hmm. My contrarian instincts are kicking in. Maybe we should try shadow beast diplomacy.

Sounds like they may have to help us swim. Oh no. That sucks.
No, no. It means that not only can they not swim, since they were also born in a landlocked country (that doesn't have lakes treave?), they don't have 8 CON and therefore won't be able to hold their breath for a long time.

There are rivers near Scotsfield, but you have never seen Sophie in a bathing suit. :M

Why not both?

Sophie isn't very appealing, simply because there is already so much stepsister porn out there that the prospect of boning her is just terribly dull.

Can you imagine the titles?
'Stepsister walks in on bro having sex with her best friend, shows them how it's done.'
'Stepbrother gets in trouble, has to do what he's told or SHE'LL TELL!'
'Preacher's daughter can't resist SINFUL sex with stepbrother.'

I agree. Elizabeth is a nice girl with an adventurous and impetuous streak, while Sophie is the very model of a Victorian-era lady. That is, boring and prudish. And it's kinda creepy to pursue her.

I'm on an actual spaceship. No joke.
treave Might as well lock it to A. These updates are like crack, I want as much as I can get.

At any rate, treave, it seems A has it by a landslide (13 votes to 2, so far), so shall we lock it?

FFS people we can't all camp Codex 24/7, Geez! Give the rest of us a measly 24 hrs between each update so w have the chance to catch up and vote. You guys...

Anyway, this turned out a whole lot better than expected, but as good as I'd hoped. Turns out Rasputin is at the very least not an arsehole. Dude just gave us a job interview. Can he be trusted? No. We don't know what he'll do or what he'll sacrifice in service of his agenda. Maybe he's a decent guy overall but will do whatever it takes to get to the top of the tower - no telling how he'd react to Rain. I hope his test doesn't involve taking down the shadowbeast, because fuck no we are not doing that. This map will be useful getting out of here, not as cool and gud as the boots but not too shabby either. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of becoming Rasputin's apprentice if possible.

Voting A, a good thing it's dark because what with all this splashing about of the people in the clingy dresses Wrinkly's about to experience a strange unfamiliar sensation in his groin area.

Sorry, that's why I didn't bring it up again. I would normally be in the same boat as you but it's quarantine, so I hope you can forgive my impatience.

Probably with fervent prayer. I'm pretty sure that the Angels of God he speaks of are elves.

I appreciate the spirit, bro, but I think it's a lost cause now. You're welcome to lodge a protest vote, though, so that if anything goes awry with A, like a secret nest of shadowfish, won't be your fault.

I just get the feeling that going downwards is more likely to lead us to a lower floor in the tower. Don't care for that now.

Baltika is sure Rasputin is a Good Guy, and the elves are what Raspy thinks of as Angels.

I'm not sure at all. I think Raspy would be just as likely to construe the shadowbeasts as being angels, and the elves being devils.

But hey. Time will tell. In another Treave CYOA we had tentacle beasts from the skies, eh?

Well, he ascribes a modicum of common sense to Raspy* since the elves are human-like creatures of unearthly beauty, and the Nazguls are shapeshifting fire-and-brimstone monstrosities that Christianity commonly associates with devils, and Slavs specifically with the word chort. Although the latter is a little more antropomorphic and charismatic (and less openly baby-eating evil) than what we've seen.

Whether it is smart to put Rasputin and common sense in the same sentence remains an open question.

* Raspy and Wrinkly. That couple was just meant to be. *sigh*

We are out of the vault and inside the caverns system. Even if it leads downwards we are not guaranteed that anything else breached the walls down there as it did here.

Edit: my bad, I thought you were talking about the levels inside the ruins.

I wonder if following along the river would make us take a leap of faith and swim. It's an underground river that may come up to the surface... somewhere, sometime. Are we feeling lucky?

And if it does require diving to get out... do we take the girls with us (who might not make it depending on how long it takes), or do we do it alone and hope we can bring someone to get them out of the ruins (and potentially leaving them to starve).

Maybe attacking the shadowbeast is the easy way out. :M

Towerspace doesn't follow the normal dimensional policies. We can go miles below ground and still not leave this floor.

I agree, though we should expect the unexpected and not write off the possibility entirely. There may be secret ways between floors even accounting for towerspace.
