Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox, the procedurally generated open world RPG that is currently running its Kickstarter campaign, has passed over the funding goal of $6,000, with 16 days left to go:

We did it, guys! Or... I should say... YOU did it! Thank you, everyone, so much! We've exceeded our goal and we're not even halfway through the campaign yet!

Anyway, we'll be back with more updates soon! Stay tuned!

No stretch goals have been announced yet, but probably will be in the near future. The game is scheduled to be released in December 2012.

Looks good, but will be utter shit.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with indie devs? Why don't they understand their niche right now is old school rpgs?

How can the gameworld be infinite, yet not randomly generated? Am I missing something or are they just getting cute with semantics?

"Malevolence is too epic and emotionally engaging to be limited by that which constrains the unenlightened minds and unworthy experiences of lesser beings. Whereas other games expect you to buy a new graphics card or get a better internet connection in order to play we demand nothing less than the player reaching trascendence into the Lunar sphere before all features can be unlocked."

Was going to say I'm surprised they got funded but realized they only asked for $6k.

1) A little bit too dark + terrible bloom when you get up close
2) Wow, big UI much
3) By turn based you mean first person slugging match/maneuvering roguelike combat with no ability buttons for me to see, you do realise that turn-based is so you can choose them options right
4) With the game like that making it infinite isn't much of a draw to me, this is like saying you have a Radiant World(tm)

in short no evidence for realisation of genre potential + uneven presentation

good that they made it, maybe their sequel will be better
