The thing with Bad Box Art Mega Man is he’d become kind of a thing by that point. The only negative reaction to that version of Mega Man being in Street Fighter X Tekken was more things outside the teams control... which was that Capcom killed Mega Man Legends 3, Mega Man Universe, and Maverick Hunter. So Capcom had killed a bunch of Mega Man stuff, and then the only Mega Man they were giving people was a joke character.

Probably didn’t help the lead up to DmC: Devil May Cry was happening at that time. And the online backlash to Resident Evil 6. Capcom was getting a lot of shit at that time.
