Warner Bros. shuts down Seattle-area subsidiary Monolith Productions, cancels ‘Wonder Woman’
Monolith Productions, a Kirkland, Wash.-based game development studio behind Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, the F.E.A.R. series, and the upcoming Wonder Woman, has been closed down by its parent company.
Bloomberg first reported that Warner Bros. Games pulled the plug on three of its development studios, including Monolith Productions. In addition, WB has canceled development on Monolith’s Wonder Woman.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier previously reported that the failures of Suicide Squad and MultiVersus represented a $300 million loss for WB, which came alongside reports of production troubles on Wonder Woman.
Monolith has more than 130 employees in the Seattle area, according to LinkedIn. GeekWire reached out to WB Games for further comment.
Other companies affected by the closures include Los Angeles’ Player First Games, which recently shuttered its free-to-play platform fighter MultiVersus, and WB’s satellite studio in San Diego.

Good night sweet prince. You will be remembered only for this:

I'm pretty sure Monolith existed in name only since FEAR1, and everything after that game was made by no one who worked on the prior ones. This is just good riddance. If anything I'm surprised the studio was still alive.

Screw this studio. Don't care. Survived off the utter mediocrity of the Arkham combat system. F.E.A.R. was forever ago, and honestly way too easy with all the slow motion.

Shogo MAD is their only game that I care about. And it wasn't even a good game. I wonder if WB learned something from their failures.

Funniest thing about their last game Middle-earth: Shadow of War was how utterly deranged it got in the mid/late game. There was so many Orcs you had no chance of remembering a single one of them. The Nemesis system went out the window and it turned into a literal meat grinder, where Orcs both allied and evil got slaughted every few minutes to be immediately forgotten and replaced.

Quite a fitting comment on the dehumazing aspect of war!

Did the devs mean to do that? No. They just wanted to get people buy Orcs from their online shop and fucked the whole game up!

While they haven't produced anything noteworthy for a long time, it's still amusing that they got shitcanned because of Suicide Squad flopping while Rocksteady gets to keep going...

There literally is zero logic to developing AAA anymore. That's why it's best the big 'uns crash & burn so we get an actual competent market after almost 20 consecutive years of bullshit.

What I found amusing was how the orcs started turning into WH40k orks with metal prosthetics and shit.
