But they don't piss and moan about ways to make it worse, they bitch about how it could be better. The codex DOES in fact want good games to play: it's not the codex's fault for having high standards.
Are you kidding? If we started receiving quality RPGs all around, there wouldn't be half as much traffic on these forums. Skyway would probably slit his wrists and the trannys would go back to being men again.

Shit, sounds like Thursday needs to get here and not be a disappointment.

On topic though, while I realize much of the stuff we hear about Skyrim is probably utter bs I want it to not be. I would like to have a good Elder Scrolls game, and if they follow through with at least some of their talk it might just happen.

Ain't that the truth.
If we can't play that vomit they spew around, we can at least have fun bitching about it!

They really can't get my hopes up at this point. Shiverwinter Islepukes was "Morrowindy" (in that the entry town was basically Seyda Neen) and it was still shit - I'd venture to say that the quests and writing were worse than vanilla Oblivion's. If they end up making a fun open-world Dark Messiah in a somewhat interesting setting, great, I'll give it a go. Until then... I just don't give a shit any more.

Bethesda still lacks one thing, a good writer. They should also replace their animators, maybe buy a motion capture machine, and maybe use the engine from that id team. And bring back staves. And stop with the stream lining. But mostly, it's the writing.

One of the Bioware writers for Mass Effect 2 (in before LOL) actually went to work Bethedsa. Sadly.

Heheh, however weak his writing might be (gimme a sample), it's still a damn huge incline for Bethesda.

The one that left, wrote Legion, which sadly (in my opinion) was written very fucking well. He wrote some other stuff too, but I cannot confirm exactly what. Also he was the Lore writer for the old MMOG Asheron's Call. He wrote some fucking awesome lore each patch for that game.

Why "sadly"? Looks like his writing wasn't actually bad, this can only be a good thing for Bethesda. EA fucked Bioware for good anyway.

I think Bethesda doesn't know it is in DIRE need of good writers at Bethesda. So I fear that such good talent within their midst will go utterly to waste. Hell even Zeits of MotB fame worked there for a while (after MotB) and ran screaming back to Obsidian. That says quite a bit about the company, in my book.

I don't think Bethesda has ever publicly criticized their very deficient writing, which is one of their biggest flaws.

They even go the award for best videogame writing for Oblivion. That's a travesty if anything.

Didn't Fallout 3 even win some award on writing? It's like the writing community is trolling Bethesda.
