My biggest mistake: uninstalling huge/long games

Football Manager

These are long games. So after 100 hours I will have enough and uninstall them. But then a year later I want to play it again. There is no save, so I start over again.

I back up all of my saves to google drive before I uninstall. Saves are valuable, because I invested a lot of time in them.

Sometimes I get pissed at a game and delete the save, only to regret it later.

I was near the end of Final Fantasy 7, deleted the save for some reason, and now I regret it because I don't want to play the whole game again to beat it...

My problem is that once I abandon a game, I have a hard time just resuming it even if I keep the saves. When I reload a save of an abandonded game I just feel lost and don't feel immersed, so I'd rather just restart from the beginning. This works sometimes and I end up finishing the game, but other times I end up abandoning the game again, because I end up feeling burned out on it since I've already played large chunks of it before.

God: What was your biggest mistake?
  • TheRealEstateGuy: I married a crazy bitch without a prenup.
  • TheMarketingGuru: I got into drugs and gambling, ended up living on the street for a month.
  • TheDeveloperDude: I uninstalled a game. Three times.

To be fair Football Manager is fine to restart multiple times. I tend to lose interest in a save after 10, 15 seasons tops, because then it's just fantasy football with all the fake players. And after all that time you can probably bring even the shittiest club to the absolute top.

And honestly if I abandon a game and then return to it years later, I probably forgot at least 80% of its shit, so I'm gonna restart anyway.
