In that case, then :salute:

Although my skeptical side wants to know what your expenses are if the sales from this game are supporting you.
You ought to write a Codex review.

This is cool man, congratulations on getting a game out! I'll pick this up very soon! Not thrilled by the faux-chiptune music you've got in the trailer; if you ever want someone to write you a real chiptune send me a PM ;)

This! Get some real blibb blobb

Game is actually pretty cool, but you REALLY NEED A DEMO, believe me, it'll boost yer sales. Also, the linux folk need to be able to test whether it runs on their system

Some more information on the site would be nice...

are the levels random?

is the loot random?

is there character customization? what stats, skills etc?

Please consider the fact that games such as DOOMRL, IVAN, INCURSION etc. are 100% free. That is your competition. What does my 5e buy me apart from graphics?

Anyway, great effort! Definitely interested in this.

Yep it's all random.

It's true that these roguelikes are free, but do not underestimate the value of polish and aesthetics (graphics, sounds, music, interface)- I am long time roguelike player and even I don't really play the "classic"s anymore for a large part because of these reasons - just can't be arsed to learn dozens of keys and there is really no reason to have such arcane interfaces.

Not to mention that even the ones that offer tiles rarely look better than the ascii version, with the generic tiles just plastered on top as an afterthought.

"Just the interface" is a moot point - interface and presentation are a big deal! It doesn't have to be high end but it should at least be aesthetic.

So I disagree that incursion/IVAN/etc are my competition - as I am not going for the hardcore roguelike crowd.

Glad to see a demo upcoming. For myself at least I tend to find and stick with a single roguelike for a long time - long enough that shit interface ceases to be a concern - so a free demo is more likely to overcome that inertia than being asked to buy and switch over sight unseen, however cheap the product may be.

I'd be happy to pay $7.00 for your game, but demo or not, I've never seen a computer released for sale with less information on the site. I watched the video, fine, but even basic gameplay isn't described. Invest a little more time in the site and a demo and maybe you can get it on one of the digital distribution platforms.

Now has a demo up, it certainly seems to be going in a good direction.

Somewhat odd to have two identical Fireball spells on separate cool downs though, heh.
