What are you, an Ossian staff member, VOD? You're crying so much over what other people think of the game that you sound as if each poster violently raped you. Anyway, my interest in this game has completely dwindled, though I might pick it up later down the road if it gets ace reviews.

No. But i work as software developer, i guess that makes me biased when it comes to piracy.

Comprehension difficulties? I'll help you:
- I did not cry
- I don't care what you or other posters think about this game
- I critisized pirating a game after finding retarded reasons to justify it

The last point leads us directly to

Maybe if you were able to read you'd notice me saying this:

I'll buy it and download a cracked version to avoid the DRM, simple as that.

Legal AND convenient!

and then you'd reconsider writing this

Or maybe you're one of the fucknuggets who say that dloading is bad NO MATTER WHAT and I'm getting two copies for the price of one?

Now you are acting butthurt?
I was refering to the Moralfags stuff.
DL a cracked exe after you bought it is OK in my book, i'd consider it myself if the DRM is really annoying.

Except Ossian is shit and doesn't deserve support in any case, so that's that.
+1

But the game is probably not worth hassle of dl-ing and cracking, anyway. So keep your DRM, your ridiculous pricing and watch me play old games of better quality and without DRM.

Don't delude yourself, immoral scum!

Downloading a cracked copy is stealing!

Oh boo hoo. Dirty foreigners have to pay an import tax for American goods.
Oh boo hoo. Dirty foreigners don't pay an dime for American "goods"! Dirty thieves!

Don't worry, I won't even pirate it.

Because you foreigners keep saying your money is worth more than ours. This is just our way of proving you wrong.
Overpricing shit doesn't make it valuable, and your money stinks.

That's not legal. You can't circumvent DRM, even for personal use.

That's not legal. You're not allowed to circumvent DRM, even for personal use.
Fixed (because obviously he can) and
The buying part is legal, the cracking part is convenient...

Good question. Does it install a rootkit? If it just does internet authentication, then maybe not.

BTW, on the pricing difference, this is part of classic supply and demand with the money market at work. Dollar goes down, value/price of US products goes up. It's good for US $ since it creates more demand.

Hi Everybody,

I wanted to clarify for you what Atari is intending with regard to the 3 activations for MoW. So I’ve consulted with them to get some specific details and prepared a list of clarifications.

Firstly, please note that entering your serial key when installing MoW is NOT the same thing as MoW automatically authenticating with the Atari server in order to activate.

- With 3 activations you can install MoW on 3 different PCs.
- If you reinstall MoW on the same PC with unchanged hardware (see below for details), you can do this an unlimited number of times. You can do this on 3 different PCs.
- If you uninstall MoW and reinstall it, the westgate.key file (generated from the authentication) in your NWN2 folder won't have been removed, so your new MoW installation will not count as an activation.
- If you uninstall MoW and NWN2 (on the same PC), and then reinstall them, you can either have backed up your westgate.key file (to copy back into your NWN2 folder so MoW doesn't have to authenticate again) or not backed up the key at all and let MoW authenticate again (in this case, it will detect that this machine has activated before). In either case, this will not count as an activation.
- If you change your RAM or video card (and likely sound card too) and play or install MoW, this will not count as an activation. I don’t have 100% confirmation from Atari on this next part, but I would expect that changing your CPU, motherboard, or hard drive where MoW is installed would count as an activation.
- If you reformat your hard drive and reinstall your OS, NWN2, and MoW, but without changing your hardware configuration, then this “normally” shouldn’t be another activation. I say “normally” because that is the wording that Atari told me.
- Apparently, for some retail games, a user can revoke their usage of it in order to resell it, so that the slate is wiped clean for a new user to install and activate (I think this is termed an “installation reset”). Atari has said that can’t be the case for a digitally-distributed title like MoW.
- If you surpass 3 activations, then you can contact Atari tech support in order to get another activation.

I hope this has helped answer your questions about activations.
- Alan

That sure is a lot of bullshit to go through just to play a module. I was interested in MoW, but I don't see the point in wasting $10 on something that won't work anymore when I upgrade my PC.

This DRM scheme seems to be the result of a bored engineer, as it is pure overkill for something as simple as NWN2 module. Once again, the customer who pays is fucked, while the free-loading pirate enjoys his game without hassle.

Yeah, over-designed. It's made for all of Atari's future downloadable products.

It delayed the release of MoW for over a year? while they were "getting the bugs out". We'll see....
