This, I now sheepishly realize, makes a lot more sense than what I'd been picturing. So the server... Is not just sitting in Taluntain's house somewhere?

Indeed not. Our new server is located in a big private datacenter in Chicago. To get the kind of connectivity that we need for fast world-wide access, hosting the server locally is not really an option.

As for what that looks like, I'm posting this one because it's rather Christmassy:

In reality, it's usually more like this:

The hat is a XX Large "foldable hat" from Red Rock (barmahhats.com.au) measuring an impressive 376 mm from edge to edge (lengthways) it has an interior space of 235 mm and a depth of 80mm.

Ok, that is a mildly disturbing coincidence. Here, lemme take the hat I'm wearing off my head and grab my cellphone to snap a pic...
Except I don't wear mine while I'm sitting inside on a computer. :smug:

4600 dollars for a PC with those specs? I assume the other half of the money was spent on hookers.
Servers are rented by the month, not paid for out-right. The money we've raised should be enough to run it for a year or two - or take other options if it still can't handle the load before then.

How is that?
How is what?

pffffttt, you guys got to get real hats fit for a codexian like me FFS

That looks like a cake, or it's covered in cat hair.

Probably cat hair. It would explain a lot, given the highly scientific article that was posted the other day.

And it was raining yesterday, hence why I wore a hat to work.

Pretty sure top hats were made out of beaver pelts. Beavers were an extremely important resource produced in Canada and the US during the 17th century especially. That example has probably picked up a lot of dust and the weave has begun to unravel over time (probably due to exposure to the elements and/or temperature changes).

I prefer to wear beavers as a hat but only after she has cleaned it well in the shower. Wearing them as a mustache is better, though.

Now, the Wasteland 2 NPC raffle will be conducted this coming weekend on the 5th / 6th January (Australia time). Names will be printed onto paper and put into a hat. The winner will then be drawn entirely at random.

And hunting beaver pelts was the main reason New France was established as a colony, and ultimately why I exist today and speak this language.
